I don't log in or post very often mainly due to time and the fact that my tripawd has bilateral hip dysplasia so I have been spending  more time on those sites! At any rate, over the summer I bought one of the Tripawds t-shirts. I got the women's v-neck with the "Be Pawsitive" across the front. I LOVE IT! It is the best t-shirt ever! The v-neck is very shallow so it is almost like a crew. It is comfortable and fits very nicely. Of course the message on the front is great too. Now my husband wants one and so does my friend who doesn't even have a tripawd! I also bought the personalized sweatshirt but I haven't worn it yet because it hasn't been cold enough. I'm sure I sound like some sort of paid advertisement, but I swear I am not! You never know what you will get when you buy something online and I always feel better when I buy after hearing the product is good. Anyway, thanks for a great shirt!

And on the hip dysplasia note, my dog Cheek was born without a front left leg. At 7 months old we found out he has bilateral hip dysplasia. Last summer we had the worst hip operated on (FHO, head of femur removed). This past June he dislocated the other side and had a second FHO. He is now pain free and at 2 years old can run around and be a crazy dog. The recoveries were hard because of balance due to the missing front leg. However, he pulled through and is doing really well now.

Oh that is SO nice to hear! Thank you so much for the feedback. Admin Guy works hard on those designs and keeping the store in order, and really appreciates your nice words. And sound like a paid adverstisement all you want, all proceeds from our Tripawds Gift Store go toward helping to defray the costs of maintaining this community.

It's good to hear that Cheek is doing so well! We would LOVE to let pawrents know that this is pawsible. You wouldn't happen to write a short 500-word blog post about his experience, would you? It would help sooooo many pawrents and we of course would love to celebrate your amazing accomplishments. You went through a lot and we definitely want to salute you for not giving up! No pressure, I know you're busy, but anytime you want to submit a story, just let us know!

Oh, Cheek! You are so cute! Glad you are feeling good and running around!

Your mama reminds me I need to get one of those Be Pawsitive shirts. I have 2 of the customized shirts (with Tri to Relax) but need to get one of those too!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

OH!!!! I remember Cheek!  You are in Japan, right?

Oh my goodness why didn't you come around when Cheek had his FHO surgery!  I could have droned on and on (AGAIN) about how miserable I was when I had to do two knee surgeries on my Comet!big-blink  (Who, if you remember was born with a deformed front leg)

I'm so glad he is doing well.  I know the surgery was ruff going!

Wow. Some excellent memories here. Yes, little Cheek is in Japan. Fortunately far enough away from Fukushima to be safe from nuclear radiation. Still concerned about food contamination so Cheek only eats locally caught fish (from the Japan Sea, not Pacific) and beef from Australia.

As far as his surgeries go, he did really well considering what he had to go through. We have 2 other dogs and Cheek didn't want to miss out on the action. I rigged up an old baby stroller so he could go on long walks with us. He LOVES that stupid stroller and still goes for rides in it off and on. We also have a baby jogger rigged up for him as well. Even with the hips pain free he still tires out way before the other guys do. Both operations were around summer time so I took him to the river everyday to swim and build muscle and flexibility. Never in a million years did I expect hip dysplasia in a toy poodle. And yes, pet insurance is a good thing!

Due to his surgeries we had him X-rayed head to tail. Both my local vet and the orthopedic surgeon think Cheek was born with 4 legs and that the missing leg was "cut" off. Either by humans (really?) or by the mother dog chewing it off. When he was surrendered to the shelter the owner said he was born with the missing leg. However, the X-rays show a piece of elbow in the stump. The vets said if it was a short leg due to growth deformity that elbow wouldn't be there. Also, the end of the stump is too clean of a cut to have grown like that. Mystery.

It must be disturbing to think about the leg.  So, I say we just pretend it was never there!

Yes!   I want to see pictures of Cheek!  He looks a lot like my little boy (although he's not a poodle and not a tripawd)!

Cheek has a wonderful family, that is for sure!  And glad to hear you weren't in that terrible and horrific crisis.
