Hi you all,
Serge is now 5 weeks post amp. and doing really well.. Raven (our 4 1/2 yr old GSD) went to the breeder for a little while, to allow things to settle down. We all went to pick her up yesterday, and they are settling down again. Serge is now almost 6 months old, and is entering the "butt-head" young adolescent GSD puppy stage. A lot of posturing (at us !!) trying to have a fierce stance, but the eyes give it away. Quick looks sideways to make sure there is a clear getaway. Noisy, but quite comical. But, comical or not, he has to be taken into hand, otherwise in another 6 months he will be all over us. A German Shepherd should never be underestimated. He doesn't try it on Raven, however. He has learnt his lesson..Younger dogs do not try the "dominance" act on an older dog.. Down they go !!!
Serges' gait is improving, and we are doing some simple exercises with him (standing) stretching him forward to a treat lure, while one of us gently aligns the straightened back leg from behind. Patience is indeed a virtue, when dealing with dogs !!!
So, I unveil to you, "The happy pair" (at least for now)

They are adorable!! I remember Leland's puppy/adolescence stage...we had to replace carpeting, a recliner, and pillows because he chewed them up. Dealing with the larger breed dogs (Leland is a Dobie) they need to know who the leader is in the family or they'll attempt to run right over you and be the boss. Once they understand they are not in charge they are wonderful!!
Wishing you the best in teaching Serge that he's not the "top dog" in the family and wishing him continued success in his recovery!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
I can't believe how big he is! They look so cute together, and Im so glad they're doing well. At least Raven knows enough to put him in his place lol. Best wishes!

Domino had his left front leg amputate on May 13th 2014 after being hit by a car. He's now living a happy healthy life on three legs :)
Awww look at them together. They love each other. Agreed about knowing who is the leader of the pack. Have Rotties exact same way. Keep working with him on that posture. Sounds like everything is headed in the right direction though
