Hi everyone,

A couple of photos of Serge and Raven together.. He is adjusting well, and another week or so, and I'll begin core strengthening exercises .. Black-fly season is here in spades, and we go outside in short bursts..Teeth with a pair of wings...

Have a good weekend

Richard

Serge and Raven "waiting" for a treat...Raven is slowly losing her Winter fat..She is still "fluffed up" after her 'shampoo and set' in the breeders big tub.... !!

In the second photo, Raven is wondering where her food went ! Serges' wound is nicely healed..

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Serge is getting BIG!  They look great together.

My dad used to say that he kept a little fat around his middle so he didn't tear when he bent over...does that work for Raven?

With pugs I am always fighting the battle of the bulge.  Its tough with little dogs as just a few extra calories can add ounces which can quickly become pounds.  Tani had always been quite a chunk of a pug.  But as her arthritis got worse I really needed to get serious about her weight.  Green beans have been a huge help for us, and I also no longer feed kibble as the main part of their meals (easier with little dogs I know). I call them Trouble Beans after Spirit Trouble (you see her in the rotating banner at the top of the forums) and I use them in meals, for training and for snacks.  I got Tani down from 18 pounds to about 15.5 pounds (chunk-o-pug!) a couple years ago and she is holding there.  When quad-pug Obie had knee surgery last year and was on crate rest for 8 weeks then activity restrictions for 8 more weeks he still got big meals but didn't gain any weight.

But the best weight reduction for Raven will probably be a healthy Serge!

Ohhhh so sweet! Thank you for the smiles to start my day. What a gorgeous pair and Serge is really growing fast!

I hope they get to go outside and romp for a bit despite those nasty teeth with wings! eeeek!

Awesome pictures of Serge & Raven.  I know I have a little extra that I need to lose too so don't feel bad Raven.  🙂

Serge is really growing fast.  How is adjustment /gate now that is has been a few weeks since his amputation?

When he stands still, his rear leg is extended normally, and he is at least standing on his foot. The leg is not necessarily aligned in the right direction !!  When he is walking or "running", he is still bunny hopping, crabbing sideways, and a lot of the time either on his hock, or with his hock close to the ground. I'm planing to start the exercise regimen for his gait, and his posture next week...We are not letting him "leap about" too much, just yet. The incision should be completely healed in another 10 days or so, and then we can take the "brakes" off....

Thanks and have a good week

Richard

It looks that way, but he lets both the cat and Raven eat out of it with him. Food guarding, or any form of resource guarding (a toy for example) in a puppy can lead to aggression issues later in life.
