Hi everyone, I just wanted to give you a quick update on Rocky.
He celebrated his 8 month ampuversary April 14th and he's still doing great. He has even taught himself a new trick.
Rocky has always enjoyed offering a paw to "shake" or just laying a paw up on our leg in order to get a little attention. Well, since his amputation he hasn't been able to do that (he's missing his foreleg).
I remember the time, a few months after surgery, that my son accidentally asked him to shake. Rocky instinctively raised his nub up in the air and I almost cried – it was so sad to see. But then we noticed that Rocky actually enjoyed doing this, so we began playing "shake a nub". (His nub is very small – really just a small mound the at the end of his shoulder)
Well, I guess Rocky got a little tired of that game and I think he had something to prove, so he eventually taught himself to sit up on his haunches and offer his remaining paw to shake. He sometimes does this out of the blue, and we have to race over to catch him so he doesn't tip over!
Wishing all tripawds happiness and strength,
Michelle and Rocky

Oh that is amazing....I was just thinking the other night I used to have Magic shake with either paw and "touch" with one paw or the other for a hidden treat...I was wondering if he would be able to balance to do that with his remaining leg...and look at Rocky, just look at him and he isn't tiny either!!! Thanks so much for posting this, I am making it into a whole bunch of posters and hanging them up for Magic to look at....and aspire to
That's what I call a "Circus Boy" !! Way to go Rocky!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Hooray for Rocky! We're glad to hear he is doing so well, thanks for the update.

Hoppy Ampuversary Rocky! You give Tripawd warriors so much hope.
We love this new trick. It just showes to go ya that there is nothing that a Tripawd can't do, and do with real style. Thank you for demonstrating to silly humans that there is a work-around to every challenge we are presented with.
Keep it up and keep in touch!
