$400 for a toe nail does sound rather dear. Tazzie ripped a toe nail once at daycare, apparently kind of common when chain link and ice come into contact (or long toes nails and ice). I was out of town, but the way they fussed in their emails to me, I assumed it was the entire toe or something bad. But it was just a toe nail. They took him to the vet, who seemed to trim it down even further - nothing was left - for something like $50 which seemed steep at the time. But I'd take $50 over $400 any day. I guess they didn't give him any fancy drugs. Eventually it grew back kind of upside down, curling up more than down.
Looks to me in those pictures as though Comet likes Monkey Butt.
Good work Comet. I see you have begun to implement the Manhatten Project. I hope your mommy doesn't read this. I don't want our cover to be blown. I feel a little bad though . Don't you? I mean, I once ripped up a toenail on some river rock and it kinda hurt. I can't believe they are charging your mom $400. That is crazy. And why do you let that little whippersnapper stick his monkeybutt in your face?
Hi Opie,
I'm not sure what you guys have been talking about but I'll pass the message to Comet. I'm sure she'll understand and get a kick out of it! She seems to really like talking in private to you.
Well, here's part of the $400... $27 for 35 cents worth of gauze and flexi tape I had at home! The vet's bandage stayed on for 2 hours after getting home! So, I have had to wrap a new bandage 8 times now at home! (you know, $216 worth!) I even decided one of Comet's booties would help.
My current plan...DO NOTHING and cover it only when he goes outside. I can't keep anything on it. He got a shot of antibiotics and is taking some pills, too. So, I give up. It is coming off tomorrow anyway. What a waste of money, not to mention the expensive bootie that was shredded.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
