Christmas day was Rusty's eleven month ampuversary! What a Christmas present for Jan & myself! Eleven months ago we were not sure that Rusty would be with us to celebrate Christmas. We had five other couples in for dinner and Rusty enjoyed every minute.
Our last monthly checkup with Dr. Macy was on Friday, December 3rd and we received an “excellent report”! His white cell count has gone up and his blood platelets have also gone up; this is the first time they have gone up, rather than down, since Rusty started on Chemotherapy eleven months ago. His liver functions are still below normal but within acceptable limits. Dr. Macy said that December will be the last month for Chemotherapy; we gave him his last Chemo treatment on the 20th.
When Rusty returns for his twelve month checkup in January, Dr. Macy will do a complete X-Ray evaluation of Rusty to see if the cancer has spread to other parts of his body. Depending on the results of the X-Rays, Dr. Macy may want us to take Rusty back to San Diego for MRI’s and Ultrasound scans. He said that is very unlikely that he will put Rusty on any further Chemo treatments, unless the cancer has spread. If Rusty’s X-Rays are clear, Dr. Macy plans to put him on a three month follow-up schedule
after January.
I will update Rusty's blog and post some Christmas photos in the next couple of days.
Chuck & Rusty
Rusty is a Labradoodle who was diagnosed with level 3 Fibrosarcoma on January 16th, 2010 and had his left hind leg amputated on January 25th, 2010 five days before his 18 month birthday. Please see Rusty's blog @rusty.tripawds.com. He is putting up one heck of a fight against this terrible disease.
Congrats to Rusty! We will certainly celebrate this glorious occasion in his honor. May you have many, many more ampuversaries to celebrate. Can't wait to see more pics of Rusty! Hoppy New Year to you, and am sending lots of golden hugs your way.

Love Never Ends
Oh, wow, Rusty. What awesome news! Happy ampuversary to you. Eleven months is a big deal, but I'm waiting for the next one to have the major celebration at our house.
I so remember Trouble's first Christmas, it was the day before her 1 month ampuversary. I remember crying and thinking it would be the last we had with her, so I very much understand your excitement to have Rusty celebrate Christmas with you.
You're obviously doing it all right. Hope you have many, many more.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Dx Osteosarcoma 3/31/10. Amputation 7/21/10. Honey put up a valiant fight and lost her battle 9/22/10. Missing her and treasuring 9 years with our Honeygurl.
Way to go Rusty! A wonderful Christmas present indeed!
Lisa, Ranger, and Spirit Sadie
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.
