Abby's one year ampuversary is coming up this Saturday!! There will be an extra long visit to her favorite dog beach, Fiesta Island, and I'm sure at some point over the weekend there will be a Flying Dutchman* from In-N-Out burger! A Frosty Paw will also be in order - especially since it's supposed to be hot this weekend.
It's crazy to think that we have now had her in our lives with cancer (12 months) longer than without (11 months). We hope she keeps kicking cancer booty for a LONG time. There were many days I didn't think we'd make it this far. We are very proud of our Tripawd Warrior Princess! (If only I had a TWP T-shirt to wear in her honor... hint hint hint).
Just today, again, at the beach someone said she is lucky to have us, but I corrected them that we are lucky to have her.
Everypawdy have extra treats in Abby's honor!
Jackie, Abby's proud mama
(Oh... p.s. Tomorrow we go for a follow up onc. visit. I know he wants to do some x-rays and check on Boris and Natasha. I don't really want to. We'll see. Hopefully it will be a good visit. She is doing great - ran at the beach today for an hour and never laid down once even though it was HOT, still has a great appetite, no sign of The Cough - so I'm just choosing to believe that Boris and Natasha aren't raising a family in there!)
* a Flying Dutchman is two patties and two slices of cheese, which they came up with specially for dogs. It even shows up on your receipt as Flying Dutchman. If you have a doggy and are lucky enough to live near an In-N-Out do your pup a favor and order him/her one!
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Congrats Abby! We will definitely do some celebrating in her honor this weekend! Woo-hoo! Pawty time!
Diagnosed with OSA: 5/2/2011 Ampuversary: 5/11/2011 OSA returned in hip: 8/26/2011
Chili Dawg crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 8/30/2011 & is now pain free. He was my heart dog, and I miss him every day.
Oh what a weekend to celebrate!!! We are proud of her too!
Admin's got the warrior princess design on his to-do list, right after the 2012 calendars which he's wrapping up this week. Really! Stay tuned and thanks for your patience!!!
Good luck at the onco. Remember, those x-rays are your decision and yours only.
Congrats Abby!!!!

Abby is our hero!!! She's amazing, and we're so happy that she's doing as well as she is. We are gonna party all weekend long for our Tripawd sista! Abby, Rio is jealous about your Flying Dutchman, and right now she is complaining heartily about the fact that we don't have something like that near us. Enjoy your burger, girl, you EARNED it!
We'll be sending you lots of good mojo for your appointment tomorrow -- tell momma not to worry! As long as you're feeling good and running down the beach (and looking oh, so fabulous doing it), Boris and Natasha don't stand a chance!
Tripawd Warrior Princesses ROCK ON!!!!
Rio and her momma
PS: Mom made me a cape, Abby -- Wooohooo, now I'm rockin' the pink!
