A year ago today, I collected Meg from the hospital 'for the last time'. We'd been told the situation was hopeless. She couldn't manage on three legs, but she couldn't keep her leg either, because of a chronic infection. Doesn't seem quite so hopeless today...
Get a second opinion, people. Get a third, if that's what it takes. Listen to the Tripawrents, listen to your gut, but above all listen to your dog or cat....
Happy Homecoming Day, sweet Meg, and may you enjoy many more xxx
Ruby, Staffy, born June 2022, became a Tripawd, November 2023, adopted January 2024.
Also Angel Tripawd Meg (aka The Megastar), who died in April 2023, aged 14, after seven glorious years on three, and Angel Staffies Elsie Pie and Bille. In the pawprints of giants...
She takes such great pictures! Clearly an active, happy tripawd!
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Adorable and inspiring!! xxx
Zuki Wuggafer 30/09/06 - 11/11/16. Right hind tripawd due to Osteosarcoma. He had a strong 5 and half months as a tripawd but unfortunately a secondary issue with his spine ended our battle. He loved life, loved our family and was the best dog I could ever ask for. Truly my first love, forever in my thoughts and heart.

Love, love, love this!
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Literally the best photo!!! That face says it all!!! Congrats on your one year !!! Here's to many, many more!!!
XOXO

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
To know everything you had Meg have gone through to FINALLY get to such a great life of joy...pain free joy...just lights up my world!!
Yep, this photo...and all her photos...say it all! Well, the photo when you cut off her bloomers "said" something else, but I think thst would be censored!
You and Meg, and Elsie Pie too, contribute so much to us in so many ways! I hope you realize how much we aappreciate you!!

Oh what a happy reason so rejoice! You are such an awesome dog mom and by listening to your gut instinct, Meg now has the life she truly deserves. You and she are one of the best examples of what happens when you truly advocate for your animal. YAAAY!

Thanks everyone for being so lovely. I only wish I'd advocated for her more effectively and sooner. She should never have been put through such an ordeal. It can be really tough though to challenge the 'experts'. That's one of the reasons I so value this community, sharing experience can be truly empowering. I'm not dwelling on the past though (most of the time). There's no point. And Meg most certainly isn't. She's far too busy enjoying herself. I'm just so incredibly lucky to still have her around.
Here's to you all!

Homecoming day!!! I love that.
It also speaks to the tenacity of mom! Maybe not as soon as you think you should have- but we all make the best decisions we can. You never gave up on your girl!
And I agree- she always looks quite stunning in your photos.
