We are new to this site and blogs. Dixie has a new blog at dixiethepuller.tripawds.com I am slowly figuring out how to navigate through this site so be patient with my postings. I can't seem to link these post to Dixie's blog but assume it is an admin thing. It has been very useful to have this site to prepare us for the surgery that is scheduled for Dec22nd. I keep thinking we should wait until the tumor is effecting her more but really don't want her to suffer a bad infection or spreading of the cancer. I am off work for two weeks so I can be with her during the critical recovery time so this is the best time to get this done for Dixie and her human family. I will try to keep her blog updated as we go through this experience and we welcome any suggestions or comments.
Regards
Christopher and Dixie
I love Dixie's avatar pic...she's quite striking with those blue eyes. I will keep Dixie and you in my thoughts that she has a safe procedure on 12/22/14. It's good that you're able to be off with her through the recovery period. She will definitely need your support and help especially the first few days. Just remember that usually there are highs and lows during recovery and this is normal. The folks here in this community are great in lending support and advice since we've all been through the journey that you're just starting with Dixie.
Keep us updated on how Dixie progresses!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
Welxome to your new familu!! Sorry you have to be here but, under the circumstances, itsw the best place ro be.
You'll find tons of info here and in Jerry's book, ebooks, etc. Youll want to get scatter rugs for traction if you have hardwood. Do you have a lot of s t airs? A ramp may be necessary and or harness.
And keep lots of chocolate on hand...for YOU!!! Recovery can be a little nerve wracking for the first week or so! Generally walking and adjusting to three legs happens fairly swiftly. But recovery from major surgery and getting the pain meds balanced can be a little "traumatic"...harder on the humans than the dogs though!
I gagree with Sahana and Leleand...Dixie ks a BEAUTIFUL dog! Husky, eight? They are so full of spunk! She'll do just fine!! I think it is a good idea to donthis when you can be home. Make sure you have all contact numbers for the vet during the holidays...everything seems to close down and they can be hard ro reach sometimes!
When you pick her up the day after surgery, don't even look at her I cision...just look into her drugged filled eyes and tell her what a good girl she is and watch her tail wag!!
Aak any wuestions at all! There is nothing like first hand experience to help support you during this crazy anxious time!! And remember, Dixie isn't worried about a thing!! She's living in the moment...in the lresent...just soaking up all the loving and spoiling!! Be More Dog !!!
Have to head to work...just wanted to say a wuick hello and to let you know you are not alone! Stay connected! We are ALL here for you!
Hugs to all!!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
PS....I've been here almost two years now and still don't know how to do a blog.....or pay pal!!!! And...to state the obvious...can't type either!!!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Welcome to Tripawds. I'm sorry cancer has brought you here, Dixie is a beautiful girl.

Good luck with the surgery and keep us posted on Dixie's progress. Come here with questions and when you need support.
