As some of you know, last month we discovered lung mets (3 small nodules) on Mackenzie and a lump on her side that was a metastsis from her osteosarcoma. I took her to the vets today for her monthly check-up (included a chest x-ray) and I'm so happy to report that 2 of the 3 nodules she has did not increase in size at all and 1 nodule actually shrunk in size by half! Not only that but the lump on her side had not changed at all "stable" as the doctor said. Huge huge sigh of relief! I'm ecstatic for this day. And to top it off, the chemo that Mackenzie's on now (called Palladiam – very expensive – she's also on cytaxin) was given to us for free today for a month's supply as part of their donated meds.
And the ice cream on the cake…drum roll please…. we are celebrating her 9 month ampuversary and 11 months since her diagnosis today!! What a great day it is!
Now for Barney – for those of you who don't know, the Killbarney tour was recently here in sunny California visiting Mackenzie and her little brother Kobe. It was quite the adventure – if you'd like to check it out, go to: http://www.mack.....wds.com.
It's a wonderful day in the tripawd neighborhood!
Kami (Mackenzie & Kobe's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Awesome report. Mackenzie is in great hands with you and evidently with her vet also. To get the chemo drugs for a month for free is just so generous. Woohoo Mackenzie, keep up the good work, sweetheart. Nine months is a great accomplishment.
Haven't seen the Barney tour good times with you and Kobe, but will check it out shortly.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
That's such terrific news! I have so much hoppy-ness!
We are so proud of our Golden Miss Mack!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
A wonderful day indeed!
