Dakota must celebrate a subdued 7-month ampuversary today, as we remember the terrorist attacks and all the innocents who died that day. It is a milestone for Dakota and I certainly appreciate it and am grateful for his presence.
Dakota will be seen by his vet this coming week because I've found two sizeable lumps on him–right (remaining) armpit and left low belly-hip area. I think they are lipomas, but cancer survivors get their lumps manipulated by their doctors, don't they? He won't appreciate it but I'm in charge.
So today while thinking of what the date has come to mean, try to reclaim some sense of normalcy and don't let the bad guys win. And I mean whoever the are, nuts with guns and bombs or tiny little cancer cells.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

so well said - we can never lose focus on our right and privilege to fight for those we love. good luck with your 'lumps' - gayle just had one re-aspirated, and lipoma was it's designation. hugs to dakota, we'll have treats to celebrate big number seven here in ET.
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Happy Lucky Number 7, Dakota! I say, Celebrate!!! All of us are so very lucky to have every moment that we have, and in honor of those who've not been so fortunate, it is our responsibility to carry the torch -- brightly, joyfully and with a sense of deep and heartfelt gratitude for the gift we've been given.

Hoppy Ampuversary, Dakota! If Chili Dawg were still here, he'd be celebrating his ampuversary today with you. Tell your woman to break out the good meat- a cheeseburger or steak for your dinner! Today is a day to honor our heroes, remember the fallen, but also to celebrate the freedom we have been given, so don't be subdued on your ampuversary. Life is too short and cancer has claimed too many to not relish each and every moment we have together. So live it up on this your ampuversary! We will give Finchy some extra treats in your honor. Oh, and Noah sends a kiss on the nose too.
Diagnosed with OSA: 5/2/2011 Ampuversary: 5/11/2011 OSA returned in hip: 8/26/2011
Chili Dawg crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 8/30/2011 & is now pain free. He was my heart dog, and I miss him every day.
Abby says, if Dakota doesn't get to celebrate with a cheese burger or steak, the terrorists win. 🙂
Happy Ampuversary Dakota. I hope your lumps are just lipomas.
Big kisses from Abby and me.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Happy lucky number 7 Dakota, and I am proud of you for the way you are celebrating your ampuversary on this sad and memorable day. But I do agree with Abby - lets dont let those terrorists win, bring on the cheeseburgers 🙂
but also well said as Gayle and others said, all in all though as today has unfolded it has had sobering memories throught the day , but there seems to be an unusual air of peace and beauty today... I hope that feeling has been with you Dakota and and family and the rest of the tripawds gang as well.

the monkeydogs only THINK they have invaded the tripawd state
Lucky boy! Congratulations!!! Seems like you've been a part of Tripawds for much longer!
The lumps and bumps are just wicked little scare tactics our bodies try to pull to keep our pawrents on their toes. Any bets they're noting? Hah! I will win this one!!

Awww! Dakota - we think today is the perfect day to celebrate! Good news offsets heavy hearts. And hearing that Dakota is in the Lucky 7 Club is worth a super celebration!
Good luck with lumps! Paws crossed.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
I hope it isn't too late to celebrate! We must have missed this one yesterday so when I get home it is "game on" celebrating our buddies 7 months cancer free, sooo great!!
I hate the feeling of waiting to find out about the lumps. It is pretty common for some breeds to get the fatty non-cancerous types, so that is what I hope for you, fatty non-cancerous lumps. I know you read Sammy's blog, he is a lumpy boy too. We can be the "lumpy boy club".
Hugs and best and most intensive hopes and prayers for a good report card!

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Never too late, Elizabeth. You know how we like to drag these celebrations out so we just run right into the next one! If Dakota and Sammy join the "lumpy boy club," I need to find someone to join me in the "waddling lady club." All these goodies!

I hear ya there, Shari. Since my walking buddy no longer has the distance in her legs, my exercise routine has gone completely into the toilet! Last summer we hiked nearly every day on the trails near our house and I did four 5Ks, and this year, I think I've walked a total of maybe two miles all summer long! And boy, do my jeans feel tight these days. We need a support group or something — the Moms of Tripawds Treat Intervention Hotline. "Walk away from the cookies, and you won't get hurt!"
