Hello folks! can't believe that this same day, one year ago, Johnnie came back home from his 6th round of carboplatin, putting an end to the second part of his OSA treatment. Five full months after surgery he was done with chemo and off to an unknown journey. We were very blessed with a wonderful year, with very few bumps. Today we celebrated his 17-month ampuversary in full attire, party hats and all, although this is a weekday-workday.
My special thanks to all the tripawds family, always there when I needed advice and a kind word of support. Let's keep on hopping!

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
Johnnie, Happy Happy both chemo & ampu versary!! Way to show us all how it's done!! You and Pepa are just beautiful! Thank you Daniella for taking this journey and helping all of us who came later! Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
PAAAAAWWWWTY!!!! We have a PAAAAAWWWWWTTTTYYYY!!!
HAPPY, HAPPY CHEMO--.AMPO--VERSARY!!!!!!
You're blowing statistics out of the water Johnnie and we couldn't be more thrilled!! Yet another example of why statistics don't mean much around here. Another example of dogs NOT naving a timeframe stamped on their butts!!! !
This picture is priceless! I don't know whose smiles are bigger...Johnnie's, Pepa's, yours...or ours!!!
Thanks for being the mug of hope for those just starting this journey....and for carrying the torch for those who have transitioned to the Bridge! You are a ROCK STAR Johnnie!!!
Cake and ice cream to wash down that hamburger pie!
Lots of love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Daniela,
Johnnie's story is very uplifting to everyone but especially those just starting this journey with bigger dogs with OSA. It gives us all hope when things seem really bleak. Thanks for continuing to post your success story. I hope Johnnie got to have a swim in that wonderful pool.

Yeah! Hoppy Ampuversary Johnnie!
Donna, Glenn & Murphy
Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Hoppy, hoppy, hoppy ampuversary and chemoversary, Johnnie. You are a true inspiration! And the picture was wonderful. I love getting to put a face to the names on this site. It looks like Pepa is also doing a good job taking care of big brother...particularly if it means CAKE!
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
WOOHOOOOO!!!!! It's time to PAWTY folks!

Thanks to all of you for the wonderful messages. This is quite a rollercoaster journey, so it is nice to celebrate these milestones.
hugs from Daniela & Johnnie
p.s. time to put the furry one to sleep, which means turning on the fan or the A/C. We are already getting warmer days here in Rio.
