YEAY Rocky! We LOVE good news like this, and appreciate your taking the time to come here and inspire us all. Woooo hooooo!
Michelle, always remember that rehab therapy is a good option too, just in case your current methods don't give much improvement. The canine rehab people who are out there these days work miracles. Just a thought...
Hoppy Ampuversary Rocky! We think you are sooooooo pawesome!
P.S Great vid Comet, thanks for sharing it here!

Hi Kami,
At 85 LBS. Rocky takes 2 power mushrooms twice per day (at his weight he could probably take 3 pills 3 times per day).
If I understood his vet correctly, the Metacam actually is a human drug sold under a different name - I think it's Meloxicam. And it is one of the drugs that Walmart sells for $4.00/30 day supply or $10.00/90 day supply. You might want to check into it for Mackenzie.
Give Mackenzie a big hug for us,
Michelle and Rocky
You ROCK, Rocky!!!! You sure are a handsome fellow, too!!! Cheers to your ONE year ampuversary & many many more steaks!!
Honey & family

gayle & charon
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
This gives me so much hope for my Denali girl!! Congrats to you and Rocky for hanging in through all of this.
Denali's holistic vet put her on an alfalfa-yucca mixture for her arthritis, perhaps it's something you could look into for Rocky. Denali LOVES the stuff!!

Oh I LOVE good news.....that is wonderful Rocky...you go...my gosh a whole year and still romping around and chomping down that steak (NONE of my guys would ever have waited for permission...eat first and ask forgiveness later just in case it was a mistake..mis...steak...)
I had meloxicam (mobic for humans) made up at a compounding pharmacy ... for 114 pound Magic it cost I think it was $34.....for a month...at the compounding pharmacy the VET used it was $34 or close to it for FIFTEEN DAYS (as an aside, since casper came sick, the vet who was fostering him has to pay for meds...she doesn't get them at the vet, she went ONLINE...thanks doc!!! you could direct me THERE for the ones I have to pay for!!)
REMEMBER EVERYBODY...If you have a AAA card and it is something you can get at a human pharmacy you can get up to 35% off (I think that is the top) at participating pharmacies....go online, print out the card, and they can also send you one that is a little sturdier but not much.
Rocky, you keep Shelby and me believing in miracles!!
P.S. Shelby's labbie sister, Kona, says Rocky is a hottie.....and wants to know if he likes younger women (she's 9.5)
P.S.S. Michelle, if Rocky is going to take Rimadyl long term, will you be giving him Milk Thistle as a support for his liver? My holistic vet says it's like AMEX....don't leave home without it.
CONGRATS....and don't stop believin'
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for the info! Mackenzie takes the same dosage on the power mushrooms. I often wonder if Mackenzie should be taking more per day too (she's 80lbs) but from what I've sort of researched here on this website, 2 - 2x per day sounds about right (altho the bottle says 2 - 3 x per day). Will definitely check out the Meloxicam. So appreciate this information. And Diane - thanks for sharing what you did too on this. This will be so great if I can save some money on this. The Metacam bottle that costs about $100 lasts for about 4 weeks if we're lucky.
Thanks again! Way to go Rocky!
Kami
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Way to go Rocky.
In a journey where every day, every week, every month is a victory one year is just awesome!!
The pug's got extra treats today (no offense, I told them it was for Rocky but I don't think they really cared ).
Karen and the pugapalooza
p.s. thanks for the info on metacam too, my pug Obie on it for a short time and it was $$$$!

You might want to start a new topic post this question in Ask A Vet so our favorite vet, sees it. Dr. Wiltzius gave Milk Thistle to her Tazzie for a long time. I'm not sure how it would or wouldn't react to Metacam, you might want to ask Pam to see what her experience was.
