Wow!  I can't believe it's been two whole years since Nova's amputation.  2 years ago we were told that Osteosarcoma was pretty much a death sentence, and to not expect more than a few months with our big girl. We were also told that giant breed dogs don't do well at all on 3 legs.  WHAT A CROCK!  Come on... look at this girl! 130 lbs of lean, mean cancer butt-kicking machine!!!!  Even since she went blind from glaucoma in April 2009, she continues to defeat all the odds and LOVE LIFE!

I made this quick video to commemorate this hoppy occasion.  I will post some pictures in a few days of our ampuversary celebrations... we are getting together with the Midwest Tripawd Gang this Saturday in Grand Rapids. Now, don't laugh about the music.... this happens to be Nova's theme song.

Gosh.... I hope this link works.... I always seem to have trouble posting this type of stuff....

Sue and Nova,

Dad has been celebrating all day because the Queen's big day is here and deserves a monster celebration. We are so very happy that you will be celebrating this wonderful milestone of puting that cancer in its place for two years whole years. A real inspawration to anyone starting this journey, you have shown what we can be lucky enough to enjoy so very long and fill that time with wonderful memories. Personally, I like the rides and hikes to the mountain tops. Dad and I traveled many a road, hiked many a trail, and the outcome was always a huge Great Dane Sized smile.

So to the first in our little group, we say a very heart felt Thank You. You have shown the way and for that we will all be able to celebrate. Make sure that there will be extra hugs, extra playtime (or naps if that is the Queen's command), special treats, long rides in the country, and ICE CREAM. I was just eight days behind you starting my journey so there will always be a very special bond. All our family will be giving a very special prayer of thanks for reaching this wonderful milestone.

Queen Nova, the day I've been waiting for.  To make it two years is just awesome.  You are so very special to us, and we celebrate your MAJOR victory.

Two years ago we were new kids on the block and I've continued to look to you as my compass.  As long as Nova is well, all is well.  Along with our celebration, we say a prayer Nova will continue to thrive, and continue to be a beacon for large breed dogs who will follow.

Hugs and Kudos to you Sue, you've done an amazing job, and I know it hasn't always been an easy road.  And please give the gentle giant a special treat and hug from me and Trouble.  This is a glorious day!

Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

I woke up today, thinking...THIS is a special day. Then, Wyatt Ray found a trachea in the truck, and suddenly it became clear.

It's raining trachea in honor of the queen!

Oh Nova, what an incredible girl you are, this is truly a beautiful day. We remember when you started this journey, and we hoped and prayed that you would thrive. Now look at you, one of our veterans, one of our warriors to look up to in awe. Congratulations sweet girl, you are A M A Z I N G!

So wonderful!  2 years!!  Queen Nova continues to be such an inspiration to all of us here.  Mackenzie just had her 1 year ampuversary celebration and that makes me so proud.   I can only imagine how this must make you feel so incredibly proud.   Awesome news! And a great video too.  laugh

Kami, Mackenzie & Kobe

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

From another member of the November Five, CONGRATULATIONS NOVA!!!!  Two years is absolutely wonderful!  You and Trouble are inspawrations to others who are just now starting this journey.  I hope you get beef trachea all week, Nova!  You deserve it. And some naps, too!  Kicking cancer's butt for two whole years can be tiring!
