This weekend is a pretty big deal, and not just beause it's the 4th of July.

It's MY Independence Day too!

One year ago, I was recuperating from my ampawtation surgery on July 2nd. All dopey and in a fog, with nowhere to go but up.

Who knew that the fabulous Codie Rae would save me, and hook me up with this pack? What a lucky dawg I am.

3-Legged Wyatt celebrates his ampuversary

Mom celebrated my big day in the morning, with a big chunk of beef.

Then, after dog school, Dad surprised me by giving me a Moo Stick! Otherwise known as . . . . beef trachea!

Wyatt eats beef trachea moo stick

See that little rabbit next to me? I got that as a present too!

The pawty was going great, until Dad decided to bust out with the nail trimmers.

 Wyatt gets his nails trimmed

I needed a pawdicure anyhow, but did he really have to interrupt my chew fest?

Oh well. He got 'er done and I got to chew my Moo Stick.

It was a hoppy day indeed.

Hoppy 4th of July everypawdy! May you have a chew-filled independence day!

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

One of the great things about being a tripawd ... less nails to trim!  But, really, trimming nails during a Pawty?!surprised

Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.

No better way than dried animal byproducts to get the beast to tolerate a trimming.

Happy Independence Day, Wyatt Ray !  Sounds like you had an almost perfect day... if you left out the nail trimming it would have been!  My mom just found that the store in our town carries moo sticks and she bought one for us to try... maybe now that she has a good reason for us to celebrate she'll let us have a taste!  Break out the trachea!

Hugs,
