Today is Tasha's one year ampuversary. It seems like only yesterday that I was first logging onto these boards looking for advice and comfort after getting the diagnosis of osteosarcoma. How quickly a year goes by! Tash has done amazingly well adjusting to life on three legs. Running, jumping and still the same pain in the butt as she was before. She truly is an inspiration and my little warrior. And as of today, she remains cancer free. Our next oncology visit is in February so fingers (and paws) crossed for good news!
This site has been such a resource for me anytime I have had a question, doubt or fear. It's great to be among others that have been down this road and can offer advice or just let you vent. I haven't been online for awhile...to be truthful it's too hard to see pups pass that have been an inspiration or that I have grown to love. But I try to check in every now and again and see how everyone new and old is doing.
We're going to celebrate with a Frosty Paw for Tasha and a frosty beverage for her mom. Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year!!
Kathy & Tash
Tasha was a German ShepherdBorder Collie mix who was diagnosed with OSA at age 8. On December 29, 2011 she had her front right leg amputated and received 4 rounds of chemo. Sadly and suddenly Tasha became sick and we discovered she had liver cancer that had spread to her lung. After almost 19 months, Tasha earned her wings on July 17, 2013. No regrets and never forgotten.
Awwww you pretty pup! Hoppy Ampuversary Tasha!
I just love that photo of you on the rock, you look so strong and happy. May we use it in our photo gallery?
It's hard to believe that just one year ago you became a Tripawd. Time flies when you're bouncing back and showing cancer where to stick it! I hope you have many, many more fun years ahead of you. Congratulations on beating the odds my friend, you did it!
Kathy, don't ever feel badly about not being here regularly. We totally understand that it's hard to watch beloved members succumb to cancer when you're in the midst of your own battle, it really hits home and it hurts. Everyone copes differently but you are always welcome anytime, to celebrate Tash's milestones or just show more photos of her looking pawesome, we love hearing from you both.
xoxo

Kathy, I can't believe it's been a year! I am so happy that Tasha is doing well and enjoying life! I hope she has many more of these celebrations, and I think you should give her another Frosty Paws. Evelyn votes for an apple, a carrot, some bacon and salmon jerky.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Congrats Kathy and Tash! We're just beginning our battle here and these stories are just what we need to read and follow. Tash is an inspiration and a beautiful, pretty pup! Again, congrats!!!! Please continue to share her story. I'd love to here, perhaps in a PM, about her journey: meds, chemo(s), supplements, etc. I'll follow the link Jerry posted and see where it leads.
Cheers!
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Wow, can't believe it's been a year! Tasha is such a beauty! Here's to many more!!
Jackie, angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Happy Ampuversary, Tasha! You are a beautiful girl. Wishing you many, many more ampuversaries to come.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
Happy Ampuversary to Tasha!! Keep kicking cancer's butt. Special treats for everyone.
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
That is an awesome picture. Congrats on 1 year!
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Thanks so much everyone! Jerry we would love for you to use the photo of Tasha. Thank you!! Fetchon3, feel free to PM me anytime about our journey. I don't have any secrets and haven't done anything special to make it this far. Sometimes it is just luck...if you could call it that when cancer is involved. But I remember the scary start of this journey and any advice I can offer I'd love to pass along!
