The pups will be one on Christmas eve. We're posting this now, cause if I find myself online on Christmas eve, it means my family is even more boring than I thought!
It is also Dante's 10 month ampuversary!
He's come a long way from the little 9 pound puppy we brought home at 12 weeks old, who was still having phantom pains 4 weeks after his surgery. He's now nearly 45 pounds of crazy puppy, and still growing! He loves walks, and car rides more than anything. He loves anyone who even looks at him. He's got lasting behavioral problems due to his attack - he loves dogs one on one, but has been leash aggressive and gets overwhelmed with too much excitement. Other than that though, he loves to play with other dogs - especially his sibling Mina and our beagle - it's a mad house in here all day every day! He's a very good boy who comes every time you call him, he's very loyal, he listens really well and wants nothing more than to be your cuddle buddy. He is also insane. He has the typical pitbull zoomies, and he is also very, very unaware that he has any physical disability. He does not let his missing leg stop him one tiny bit, infact I still think 4 legs are too many! He's quick, agile and daring. He's not the smartest dog, but he makes up for that in love and humor!
We've also come a long way in not worrying about every little thing he does. We've accepted that he is a crazy puppy and if he gets hurt, he gets hurt. Of course we try to avoid it and we supervise all the time - but we aren't coddling him anymore and treating him like he will break easily! He's a tough boy and he can handle himself.
Mina has also come a long way. She is the smartest dog I have ever owned! She got the looks and the brains - poor Dante did not get either, but WE think he's adorable and we love them both very much! Our beagle is still very much in love with them, and them with her. Happy little doggy family. Cats are still not impressed with these two crazy pups, but they're holding up just fine.
Happy first birthday, Dante and Mina!!
(I would LOVE to add their 1 year pictures, but my camera is broken. I hope Santa paws is paying attention!)
Chelsea, Dante, Mina, and the rest of the pack,
Ten Month Ampuversary – WOW!!! These milestones are worthy of a special acknowledgement and pawrty. This would be very true even if you are dealing with PUPPYNESS. As one who just introduced a one year old rescue and a nine week old puppy into our house, I am totally sympathetic of your situation. However, I also realize that dealing with a tripawd puppy growing up is a even more daunting challenge.
Back to the important things, be sure to include all the requirements for such a special date – Extra Hugs, Extra Playtime, Extra Special Treats, and ICE CREAM. We will be celebrating vicariously from a very wet West Coast, but that will not lessen our excitement for your entire pack. Looking forward to Pics.
Spirit Cherry's Dad
PS: When I closed this reply, Miss Cherry's Background appeared at the top of the page. A sign that she too is smiling and enjoying this special ampuversary.
Awe, happy first birthday and maybe more importantly happy 10th ampuversary! I'm not going to tell Dante what you said about his sister having the brains and looks - that would hurt his feelings! I think he is a fine looking boy. And we all know you can't expect boys to have brains until they are well into adulthood - no offense to our guys out there!
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

CONGRATS!!!!! Super CONGRATS!
Sorry all the celebrating has to come around Christmas when everyone is busy and not around! But we got lots of treats right now and we'll be having an extra one for you guys!
Here's hoping S.P. brings you a camera!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Thanks guys! The pups get to celebrate their birthday with a three day road trip where they are sure to be loved up on by everyone who meets them.
Shanna - BF and I watched the new Shrek the other night. We howled through the whole thing - not because the movie was that funny, but because Donkey's and Dante's faces/heads look identical and we never realized it before!
Naw, he's a handsome boy in his own unique ways - he's just such a total goofball through and through that it shows when you look at him! He's our little clown, Mina is the brains and Coda, my mellow, calm, sweet Coda, is the mother and the fun police!
Hope everyone has a great Christmas and enjoys the holiday season! I know we will - we've come a long way from wondering if we made a huge mistake in adopting Dante not knowing anything about what he'd need - to not knowing how we got by without his goofy little self.
And Cherry's dad...enjoy your chaotic additions. As much work as it is, as much as it can get frustrating - it really is a lot of fun to have two dogs on high-speed at all times, in that adorable puppy stage! We're hitting that rebellious stage now of "We know better, but lets make sure it's still not allowed by trying AGAIN!" Only thing that has been tough for us is that Coda the beagle is a follower..she's a timid and smart little thing, but loves to do as the puppies do, and she's 'forgotten' some of her training that she was bomb-proof on. We're getting there though!
Happy Birthday funny boy. The way you describe him, he sounds a lot like my boy. Aren't they precious when they are like that? My boy reminds me of a three year old, just funny, happy, and wiggly. I am glad you have each other.
Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays,

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Happy Birthday AND Happy Ampuversary, Dante! What great milestones to be celebrating! We will celebrate with you - extra treats here for the girls!! And we think you're adorable, even if your sister got more in the brains department.
Hugs,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Happy 10 Month Ampuversary and 1 year Birthday! This calls for a big celebration - whoo hoo! You are so adorable and looking forward to hearing more about life with Dante!
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Happy Birthday and Happy Ampuversary Dante!! You deserve double the goodies for such a wonderful milestones! Enjoy! (By the way I think you are one really cute guy)
