Maggie's little sister Tani turns 10 today.

We said good bye to Mag three weeks ago today and we are missing her.

But today is Tani's day (although every day is 'your day' when you are one of my pugs!).

Tani is a quad-pug, but makes up for having the extra leg by harboring all kinds of chronic illnesses.  You would never know it to look at her now, but there was a time when I did not think Tani would ever possibly make it to ten. Her major problem is hydrocephalus, or fluid in the brain.  She was diagnosed at 2 when she started having seizures.  The neurologist I took her to (yes, a dog neurologist) actually did an MRI which showed the fluid.  He could not or would not give me time frames but said this would shorten her life.  She has very few seizures now, her meds control the symptoms. She is quite a survivor in her own right.

I finally posted some pics of the pug girls together in Mag's blog.  When I was typing it up last night I was thinking about how much Mag hated Tani when I first brought her home, and then how they became like one.  Everyone called them 'the girls'.  Since Tani has really never been an only dog I think she is really missing having her sis around.  Tani is one of those not too social dogs, but I really think being alone is hard on her.

Tani may get a late birthday present in a few weeks… stay tuned!
