Hello Tripawd community! greetings from Rio de Janeiro.
You will all be happy to know that Johnnie celebrated his 3rd Christmas post-amp. We are now 2 years 7 months from the amputation and 2 years 2 months from chemo. After the holidays and after the kids go back home I'm taking him in for the regular consults and exams. He is once again enjoying the pool in this very warm December in the southern hemisphere.

Cheers to all and a happy New Year.

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
WOWWEEE! Congratulations to Johnnie, you and Pepa! What a pawesome milestone!
THREE YEARS? WHEEEE! What do you think is the "secret" to Johnnie's longevity? Just wonderin!
I was thinking about you recently and wondering how things are going. Thank you for letting us know, this really made my day. Give Johnnie a big ol' kiss from all of us. We are so hoppy to hear this!

As a fellow mom of a golden and osteo amputee- WAY TO GO JOHNNIE!!!! So wonderful to hear GOOD news. It lifts us all up and personally gives me hope that I might have more time with my Fionn than is commonly projected. I know Fionn would love to be swimming with Johnnie right now and I would LOVE to be in Rio!
Does Johnnie use a flotation harness or can he manage without? It's too cold here now for swimming so I haven't bought one, but Fionn almost managed to go in our lake after some swans not too long ago so I might want to sooner than later! I'm pretty sure most goldens would NEVER say it's "too cold" to swim, lol.
Congratulations and big hugs to all of you (and a respectful butt sniff from Fionn to Johnnie)
Nancy- mom to the FABULOUS Fionn. He rescued me in 2015 when he was 6.
Right front leg amputation at age 7 for osteosarcoma 10/6/16. Taken too soon 6/12/17. Read about our journey here:

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Woohoo Johnnie for nearly three years on 3! You look pawesome! So glad to hear from you and your mom and hoppy you are doing so well!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
