I see that Sammy got Fortis's harness from Fortis's family, and likewise Dakota got a gift from a spirit tripawd. Today we recieved Spirit Indi's red Ruff Wear harness from Raina. I went to the post office to pick up 3 boxes, 2 for Dakota (what does that tell you about us?) and saw that Indi's harness was there. I was so excited to give Dakota a more comfortable option for hauling him in and out of the car.
Raina enclosed a picture of her family with Indi last December and a note on a Tripawds notecard. And she apologized for not being able to get all of Indi's hair off the harness, which I found amusing–but I was also delighted the hair was there! It's now part of Dakota! Even a few strands of precious Indi's fur show she was here. When we lost our first dog, I was heartbroken to think that all traces of her existence would be removed with a vacuum cleaner. Nope, Indi rides next to Dakota's back now. They're a spiritual team.
I am grateful for the gift of the harness, Raina, and I'm grateful for the chance to do my small part to keep Indi's spirit alive. Thank you.
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
I was so touched that you love having Indi's hair. Trouble's harness has so much hair I would never be able to remove it all. I hope whoever gets it next (it was a gift from the Tripawds exchange) will feel the same way.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Dakota looks smashing in his new harness, and quite good fit too! Indi would be proud.

That is so sweet and touching!
You look fantastic Dakota!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Aw, Dakota looks so good with Indi's red harness! I know what you mean about the excitement. It is a world of difference in the lift-a-pet one I had compared to Fortis's harness. I feel that this harness is really secure! Who knew?
I am happy for you,

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Dakota! I am so pleased that you are loving Indi's harness --and her fur! Seeing Indi's harness on Dakota in the photo is affecting me more than I thought it would. I cry for the love and the loss of Indi, and with happiness that her spirit lives on. I am SO happy that her harness is on beautiful Dakota, and not in a storage drawer in the kitchen.
I know it went to the right tripawd 🙂
Love, Raina and Spirit Indi
Indi the Saint Bernard mix had her front left leg amputated on August 31, 2010. She crossed over the rainbow bridge on December 17, 2010, because of a spinal injury, not related to cancer.
