It's hard to believe that three months ago yesterday this sweet, sweet dog came into our lives (me, Gigi and Grandma). That three months ago today she had her amputation. That three months ago tomorrow she came home for the first time.
Every day has it's challenges (she's still chew crazy), but now I can't imagine life without her
Susan, I am so absolutely delighted this story has turned out like it has! I know Cocoa has some challenging behaviors, but they will pass. She probably thinks you're weird because you don't chew things up! And I stand by what I said when you first rescued her: In some way, she will save you as much as you have saved her. She will become your other half and bring sunshine that you wouldn't have had otherwise. I know...if you can just get past the chewing.
So hoppy, happy ampuversary to dear Cocoa, the enduring survivor! Such a beautiful girl, such a beautiful will to live! And congratulations to Susan and Grandma for taking on the challenge and proving that angels live among us!
Shari and Dakota
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Here's to many many more Hoppy Ampuversaries!!!

Yippee!!!! Sorry we missed the day, but HOPPY belated ampuversary from Maddie and I.
We have been very busy with rescue work so haven't been on too much lately, but I just wanted to check in and I'm glad I did.
Saving Cocoa was a good thing for sure 🙂 and the chewing will eventually level out.....hopefully sooner than later.
Actually we have a new possible Monkey dog (the verdict is still out) living with us for now. We opened the doors for a homeless Heeler Foster in need. So now Maddie has constant company, which means constant vying for my attention.
So the 3 of us, Maddie, Jasper and I will have a treat in Cocoa's honor tonight.
