Hi everyone, hope you have had a great start to the new year. I have not had a lot of time to write but have been able to do some reading and was sorry to hear that some from the tripawds pack have had lung mets discovered or have passed away. I am so sorry for the losses and it always grieves me to read that kind of post.
We have had our hands full right off the bat, but in a good way.
We would like to announce the arrival of Einstenius Longfellow (Einstein), our newest member to our pack. He is a male, black standard poodle and he is 9 weeks old. He was born on November 13th, 2011 and we picked him up on Saturday, January 7th. He weighs almost 10 pounds as of this past weekend. We decided it was time for Cadence to have a little brother. We are successfully past her physical recovery and chemo with good results so far and we definitely have enough love and time to give to another dog. We were planning for a while last year to add another dog but after Cadence was diagnosed in July we decided to hold off and see how she did with her treatments. My husband and I said that if she got into remission and was doing well and could handle it, we would get her a brother. Allthough he attempts to try to live up to the Monkeybutt title, Cadence steps over him or leaps over him without missing a beat, never one to be tripped up 🙂
It has been going well but it is of course a big thing when a baby joins a family and we are all adjusting and dealing with lack of sleep. We even caught Cadence with her eyes half closed and nodding off at 5:30 one afternoon. So far, so good on the integration with Cadence and our cat. I have included some pictures for you all to enjoy.
Cadence Faye: Born 10/30/04, stepped into our hearts 12/23/2004. Rear leg tumor found 7/24/11 by mom and dad, Xray on 7/25/11, Osteosarcoma suspected 7/26/11, amputation 7/29/11, Carboplatin started 8/23. Met free so far!
love the picture of cadence giving einstein the 'look'. he is a cutie pie, so nice that cadence is happy with a little brother and even your kitty says 'ok'. can't wait for more updates on einstein's antics.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Cute cute. Love the new avatar pic. Keep that monkeybutt in line, Cadence!
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Awwww, so cute and curly!!! Way to keep that little Monkeyboy in line, Cadence!

OH! How adorable!
Cadence - deal with the little one with a heavy paw! They CAN become monkeybutts!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Cute! Cute! Cute!
What a great things to have your hands and paws full with! Congratulations to all of you, their relationship will be fun to watch.

I'm sure Cadence and Einstein will become the best of friends!
When we first got Sam, Tate tried to show her the ropes: "See, this is what you do when they say 'go potty' and he'd demonstrate peeing in the pee area and check to see if she was watching, which of course, she wasn't. He eventually gave up, she was incorrigible.
Now it looks to me like Cadence is explaining something very important to Einstein in your avatar pic. And of course, Einstein (being the Einstein that he is) is listening very closely. And therein lies the difference. : )
