Hi all,

We finally had a BIG breakthrough weekend with quad pug rescue boy Obie!!

He has become pretty outgoing at home, but was still very shy around other people and dogs. I've had him just over three months and he is four years old.  But this past Saturday- he acted like a dog for the first time in public big-grin

He met a little fluffy white girl dog at the park and went into full play mode- butt up in the air, tail wagging, barking, chasing and wrestling!!  Did I have a camera- OF COURSE NOT!!!  And little fluffy white girl dog's person probably thought I was a little touched because I kept saying 'look! he's playing!',  like it was the second coming or something.

But that's not all- after only 3 MONTHS of almost daily training he FINALLY got 'high 5'!  Yes my boy is quite the scholar!!

And the weekend just got better.  Tripawd Cemil's mom Mary came to visit on Sunday and brought her 16 year old lab/chow mix Alle to say hello.  And Dawn and Miles stopped by too.

Today marks one year since I found Tripawds.  For those who don't know Maggie's Story- she had her amp about 2 months before our Founding Spirit Tripawd and CFO Jerry, so I went through diagnosis, amputation, recovery and treatment alone.  I found Tripawds last year when I was searching for traction ideas for my tripug since Mag had started to slip more often.  I was so touched by all the stories, and so glad to find a community who understood what I was dealing with.  Mag had a wonderful run, far outlasting her diagnosis- you can read all about it if you want to here in her BLOG.  And I feel blessed and honored to have had this community help me through our last months and my letting go of Mag last June.

But after such great weekend I was reflecting on the good:  all the friends I have made both on line and in person, and all the wonderful dogs I have met.  Maggie's moving on has brought Obie into my life, I still have Mag's little sis Tani to make me do double-takes once in awhile, and who knows what else will come around the next curve that life is sure to throw!!

Here are a few pics from yesterday.  The first is of the gang, L to R, Miles, Alle, Obie and Tani.  The second is of the rescue boys Miles and Obie.  The third is the girls (older and more sophisticated!) Alle and Tani.

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog

Oh what a GREAT update! Obie's a real dawg now, yeaaay! Isn't it amazing when things come together like this? Congratulations!

The photos are so neat. It's beautiful to think that all of you got together and hung out. Oh this community never ceases to amaze us, it runs so much deeper than just "friending" people, you know?

Karen, it seems like it's been a million years since you joined us (in a good way of course), it's hard to believe it's only been a year. Maybe that's because we were walking in parallel universes at the same time as Jerry and Mags went through their respective journeys. Maybe we've known eachother all along but just didn't know it? Nothing's an accident, everything has a purpose.

Ok, I'm getting all metaphysical and all that, but I just want to let you know how much we appreciate your advice, support and compassion for everyone here. Thank you for all you do.

Glad to hear that you had a wonderful time and that you Obie is starting to come around. Too bad the weather could not have been better but you appear to have made it through very well.

Thank you so much for posting all of you happy news and the great photos.

The Tripawds website provides such a slice of real life - families and pups going through the hard and happy times together, sharing and supporting, smiling and crying. But most of all dogs being dogs, and us loving them.

Sounds like quite a weekend!

It IS so cool some of you can get together.  It makes me really jealous!  I would love to be able to visit tripawd friends on a regular basis.  Miles is looking great!  He's not as large as I thought he was.  Great pics - thanks for sharing!
