Is it okay to write...
My computer crashed on New Year's Day morn' and I'm really sad about no more Windows XP, Outlook Express, and my very ancient keyboard, I dearly loved!!! I really had high hopes for 2010 to be a better year...but so far Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail isn't making me feel too happy.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Sure ... anything goes, in Widoze anyway!
Condolences for the loss of your old computer. But with a topic title like this, who knows what members may reply with!

This is the main reason I purchased a second refurbished notebook from Dell's Business Outlet. These are machines that have been returned, rebuilt, certified and are actualy the latest technology. Not only was the price great (less than half of a brand new one), but I was able to purchase it with Windows XP Pro installed, and the disk for Windows Vista Business. I maybe a dinosaur but I will continue to use Windows XP Pro until ….

Thanks! It wasn't a "shout out" - more like a "shout down".
Bob, I'm a dino-sour - I had a CRT still and am missing it, too! (I didn't want to really mention that.) This big LCD screen is so bright. I'm gonna go blinder. I didn't want to spend $1300 either. But when you are in a panic - you point and say, I'll take that one since it looks sorta likes my old one.
By the way, how are you holding up, Bob? I thought about you this weekend. I know how hard it is the first few days. Well, it only gets a bit easier with time. I'm not even sure when the hurt stops.
I just sent in Comet's and Rocket's DNA test that I had bought for Xmas. I so want Rocket to be part poodle. I keep thinking he is because he such a smartie. I'm hoping Carne Terrier and Poodle. I could do without the terrier part but I love the poodle idea. Please let him be poodle!

OH my gosh what a nightmare! I'm so sorry! But things can only get better for you, right? Right! Glad you are back online though, it's good to have you here.
And you too Bob, thank you for stopping by. We send our pawsitive energy your way. and thanks for that tip about where to get another Dell. As my dinosaur Dell starts acting chuggy (it's 3 years old now! yikes! 😉 I'm already fretting over how I'm going to buy a replacement. Agggh! And yes, they will also have to pry XP out of my hands before I move on to the latest OS.
I like this topic idea, thanks for starting it!

Another tip on Dell's. If you work for or retired from a major corporation or educational system, Dell offers employee discounts. They aren't huge, but every little bit helps.

We will try this again to see if this one sticks properly.
Be careful of what you wish - you may actually get what you wished for! I have a simple DNA test for the Standard Poodle - a requirement is that they possess a CLOWN GENE! Another way to tell is to get very close, look deeply into their eyes, and you should be able to observe the mischievous gears turning.
The rest of the posting I made last night has too many tears to even try to duplicate.
Spirit Cherry's Dad - or at least what is left of him.
Oh, you'll me cry now...
I had a clown in Rugby, our shep/bassett mix (I think he was that) that died in August suddenly from cancer. That is what Comet, daddy and I miss so much. He laughed all the time and thought Comet being mean to him was funny. She'd think it was funny, too and it became a game.
Now, I'm stuck with a destructive terrier mix puppy (with an ugly monkey butt) that doesn't think Comet being mean to him is funny. It's been 6 months now and it's a lot better but so not the same.
I sure hope you are around for support if something ever happens to Comet. I'm going to need a lot of support. With a geriatric 3-legged dog, I worry everyday about her and have for 11 years. I just dont like talk about all her current maladies much because she'll probably live to 15 and I'll be in a rubber room by then!!!!
P.S. Someone advertised here they had a 3-legged cockapoo they wanted to give up. Cockapoos are so cute or at least the one I met at the park was. Just a thought...
Commie's Mom
