Wow, I can't believe how long it has been since I have been on here. Just wanted to update everyone on my precious boy Mack. July 1st. will be 10 months since his amputation!
I have to say that when he was diagnosed with bone cancer I never thought we would make it this far. Of course I hoped we would but my vet was honest with me and said most only make it 6-9 so I was prepared. What he didn't know was there are lots of dogs out there who have made it alot longer and now after seeing Mack and hearing my stories from people on here he has changed his views a bit.
Mack is on a very low dose of pred now because he was acting strange and when we did the x-rays there was a tiny spot that "could" be a met. We did not take any chances on seeing if it grew so we decided to go with the pred. After he was on the pred a little while he began to have some incontinence problems at night, poor guy didn't know he was peeing the bed. So he is now on pred, proin (for the peeing) vitamin E, C, and glucosamine.
He is just doing so well right now and I wanted to thank everyone here for everything even though I just pop in every now and then.
Mack, we are so happy for you and your family!! 10 months is quite achievement - here's to many, many more!!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Yaaaahooo Mack! You are remarkable!
Don't feel bad about the bedwetting, it happens to most of us when we go on Pred. As long as the new solution is working for you, that's all that matters.

Thanks so much guys! We are determined to make it to Sept. because there is a K9 Cancer walk here locally and we are totally geared up for it.
Yes, the peeing is under control as long as he gets the pee pee meds at night:-) Luckily he is only on them once daily and does fine.
Hoorah for Mack! I'm sure he'll get lots of extra treats and loving to celebrate the double-digit milestone!
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
way to go Mack! 10 puts you in the double digits! Keep up the great work!
