Just wanted to let Abby's tripawd buddies know that it is her 2nd birthday today!!! Hooray Abby!! We are stretching the celebrations out over a couple of days, starting yesterday with an extra long visit to her favorite place, Fiesta Island.
As for the voting results for the local paper's Dog Days of Summer contest... well, we sure appreciate everyone's support and the votes, but she didn't make it into the paper. 🙁
Details about the [stupid] contest and about her fun birthday, plus lots of pics and a video, are on her blog here.
Thanks again for everyone's support. We are off to the pet store soon to pick out a birthday present!
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Please tell me that Jonathon didn't win either!!!
Happy birthday Abby! You are still a star with us!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Oh they don't KNOW what they're missing! Boooo!
But HAPPY BIRTHDAY pretty girl!!!!! You are always a superstar in our world.

Thanks everypawdy for the birthday wishes. The voting was totally rigged. How could they not pick a super model like me? I think they just didn't want to crush the other dogs' spirits. They needed the ego boost, whereas my ego is FINE.
Yesterday for my actual birthday, my mom took me to Fiesta Island for a nice long run/play session. It was pawsome! I also got some treats from people at the beach when mom told them it was my birthday. And then I got a new toy last night, which I love. Mom says it is shaped like a Y, but I say it is shaped like a three-legged thing.
Today my aunts are coming over to wish me a happy birthday and I know there is another present for me cuz I saw it wrapped up in newspaper like my three-legged thing was. I can't wait to open it!
Mom???? When are we going for my birthday Flying Dutchman!!??
Oh... Mom says when I am a "solid citizen" again... I ate something really gross and stinky at the beach. It was pawsome! But it made my poops not so great...
Thanks again for all the nice wishes. Hope your pawrents all gave you extra treats to help me celebrate!

Yum. Wyatt can totally relate! Whenever he gets juicy, edible green clay quickly gets things bouncy again.
