I'm going with the toenail theory too, because I can totally see how it would make her stumble if she was hurting (she was probably trying to put less weight on it, and blammo!). Keep an eye on it for sure, an infected toenail is NO fun! yech.

HEY SCABBY!
You know why there are so many flies in your house? Because you are attracting them!!! That's what Scabby Abbys do! Buzzzzzzz! Buzzzzzzzzzz! Buzzzzzzzzz!
My mommy spent $700 on my toenail last year because I scraped it on a spinkler head and cracked it in the quick! She's not letting me live it down either! Now, I lick my toenails to drive her insane! Not that I don't love her...but because she didn't want to pay the $700 to get my toenail fixed and told the vet that she would hold me, while the vet clipped it! That would have HURT!!!!! Even if it would have saved mommy $685.00, it would have hurt!!!!!!!!
Monkeydogs are expensive too, SO THERE!
My post disappeared!!!!! Abby I really didn't miss your ampuversary…I think Munkey-Mutt erased it…..
I decided Abby is way cool cuz she is Fiesty and since I can't be here on earth to protect the tripawds from the munkey mutts then Abby has got to do it for me….But have no fear – I am still watching over all of you…
Princess Angel Riley
Hey Princess Angel Riley! Thanks for the message. I knew you were not forgetting me. I am pretty sure that mean Monkeybutt-bunny erased it. He, as usual, is jealous of all the attention I get for a being a Super Tripawd Warrior Princess. (I am ignoring his mean message about me attracting flies... if I do, it is because I am SWEET. Like HONEY. So, there, Monkeybutt!)
My mom has got me on a beach morrytorryum (or some weird word like that... I just know it means we have not been to the beach for 2 days now!). I have stopped licking my toenail ... well, mostly stopped ... so hopefully we will go back tomorrow.
My cousin, Lou the Corgi, is hear visiting. He is OLD and SHORT (he is in the love-note video Monkeybutt-bunny made for me) and I love him a lot and want to play with him, so pestering him has been good fun. But he gets tired of me and goes and hides. That is kinda a bummer.
Today though Mom and me are going to go get sandwiches and pick up Daddy at work and go eat lunch together in the park. I can't wait!
BTW, Princess Angel Riley, my mom saw a puppy at the shelter where she volunteers on Monday that had that same cute little heart shape like you have around his eyes and it made her think of you. He was so cute he already got to go to his Furever Home!
Mama wants to know if you will please say hi to my angel sister, Bailey the beagle. Thanks. I never got to meet her, but she sends me angel messages about the best techniques for begging.
Love you guys - big sweet kisses from me! Mwah!
Abby
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
A quick Abby update: we went back to Fiesta Island today...50 min walk in the sun and sand and only one wee stumble on some slippery seaweed and she didn't lie down a single time! She had a great time, racing around and playing with her friends and mooching treats. We stopped for a hug break, but other than that she was Go GO GO!!!
So it does definitely seem that earlier this week was just a heat/tummy/toe combo of troubles designed to scare the heck out of me!!
Thanks again for the well wishes and support,
Jackie, Abby's mom

Sounds like Miss Abby is having a great time, and definitely up and around. They do have ups and downs along the way. It is hard for the humans to deal with, but it seems to be the norm.
