John and I received a box in the mail last weekend. We saw it was from Jackie, Angel Abby’s Mom. I had a feeling what might be inside, but didn’t want to get my hopes up just in case I was wrong. I wasn’t. We opened the box and took out a beautiful felted Max. I don’t know how Jackie and her sister do it, but he is an EXACT replica of Max. The fur colors are accurate, his gorgeous eyes are just the right shade of ice blue, and he’s wearing his green collar. I’ve been secretly hoping we’d receive a felted Max, but I also was afraid it might make me a little sad. It didn’t, though. It comforted me. Thank you, Jackie, for sending my boy back to me.
Oh, what a sweet post. I love how Mini Max looks in the grass! And I'm so happy that he made you happy!
I have to admit, I think he was our toughest pup yet! Max was so distinctive looking and handsome - and those ice-blue, see-into-your-soul eyes! He was a toughy, so I'm so glad you think we did a good job on him. 🙂
Jackie (and her felting-partner sis, Terry)
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Happy tears. Max is beautiful. His eyes are perfect! And your words Diane are touching.
Tough night tonight but this post made me smile.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
This is so cool and incredibly sweet! I didn't even read what John wrote until after I saw the picture, but I said "hey, it's Max!" And it is!

Wow Jackie, that looks just like him! What a special gift to give a good friend. Diane, how cool is that? Just when I think this community is soooo amazing, it amazes me even more. So many people here who care so deeply for each other and each others puppies! Needless to say , I just love that felt Max puppy.

What a special, special gift! Max was a gorgeous boy and this just captures his beauty.
Jackie, you and your sister are so talented and so kind to do this. Just proves what so many have said about the members of this community 'get it' when family and friends just don't understand. These felt pups are a tribute to our heroes who taught us more than words can explain.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
