Ajax asked me to send a shout-out to all his Tripawds friends (well, he said "fans", but I told him that was rude).
We are celebrating:
3 year ampuversary on July 19
11 th birthday on July 25
Other than the blazing heat, we are doing very well! Would love some input from any large breed rear leg amp owners on space effective core strengthening for a stubborn Tripawd - Maggie? Wyatt Ray ? Please be advised Ajax does NOT want to stand on anything wobbly and I don't have room to store the Peanut in NYC apartment ... so could use tips on the best core activities that don't take a lot of room and that one person can do with 73lbs of stubborn Labrador
Sending thanks and love to the Tripawds community!
We are building up quite a Tripawd group of our own in Central Park ...and have even been accused of being "trendy" ...
Yay Ajax. Congrats on your ampuversary & your birthday. Hope you get extra rubbies & scratchies.
Hugs

Congrats on both milestones.
As far as the PT stuff...well, sometimes you end up having to do effective stuff you don't like But if you REALLY can't get him on a wobble board, some of the things we did:
Back legs on the ground, front on two-three steps up...hold a treat out and make him stretch.
Lying on his side try and make his nose touch his hip (sort of like what you do when you are teaching roll over, if that makes sense?)...basically lure his nose that way with a treat.
Rocking him back and forth--both side to side, and forward and backward.
I realize as I am writing these, they probably make no sense...

WAHOO AJAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jilly wants to know if a kitty can come to the pawty in central park!?
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. "Like" Jill's facebook page: https://www.fac.....tty?ref=hl Proud member of the WINTER WARRIORS!!!! Her blog can be read at http://jillsjou.....ipawds.com. xoxo
Yay Ajax!!! Love this update. Unfortunately, I have no suggestions for the exercise you ask about, but I am so happy that Ajax is doing well!
Lisa
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Love your avatar picture Ajax! Quite a handsome boy!
The only other little 2¢ worth I can offer, if you have any small "hills" or inclines in Central Park, it's supposed to be good muscle building exercise for them to go up slight hills. MEGHAN has some great tips!
Ditto on the photo request!
CONGRATULATIONS AJAX AND MOM! Incredible job! Hey Ajax! Any dog that has the kind of milestones you do this month, can i deed call us all your FANS:-) And we're proud of t too!!

Woot-woot! Hoppy Ampuversary and Hoppy Birthday Ajax. That's pawsome. Extra treats and rubbies all around.
I don't have any suggestions as far as core strengthing. Daisy is the same way - there is no way I would be able to get her on a wobble board. I couldn't imagine getting her on one of those peanuts either! She is a chicken little and is afraid of anything "different". I did read somewhere about using couch cushions as "wobble" boards. I have never tried that but it might be something Ajax could try.

Thanks everyone for your great messages!
That's Wayne, or as he is known in my neighborhood, "the other one"
He was adopted by Catherine who lives down the street about 8 mos ago. She is a first time dog owner and adopted Wayne as a Tripawd so we love her (and of course Wayne). Wayne was a Hurricane Irene rescue from Vermont.
The photos are all from the last 3 mos. the beach one was Tripawds Take The Hamptons day (as we called it)
Thanks for that info, I forgot to mention that I was wondering who that handsome pup was! What a pair.
