I wanted to write to thank everyone here for being such a supportive community for us before, during, and after our dog Sadie's amputation surgery. Tomorrow will be 8 weeks since her front left leg amputation, and she is doign amazingly. We have come so far since surgery and she is back up to walking a mile per day, and is able to run hard, jump, swim, and play! I'm attaching a link here of her running full speed last weekend on my in-laws farm.
I am so thankful that this community is here. It made the recovery process so much easier.
Go Sadie!
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
WOW SADIE! I want some of the supplements you're on! So glad things are you going really we'll. The exuberance is refreshing. Good job to everyone all the way around!
Thanks for sharing the joy! Sally and Happy Hanah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thanks guys. We have Sadie on an all natural glucosamine supplement and traumeel. I think these help her joints and remaining limbs to stay healthy. I will say it was to her benefit that she is such an active dog. Just a few weeks prior to surgery she was running 4 to 5 miles with me several times a week and I think this baseline of exercise helped her bounce back quickly.
Wow Sadie, I blinked and missed you in the video, I had to watch it twice!
Thanks for stopping by, we're thrilled that you are doing so great. I agree, exercise and a lean body is key to a great life on three legs. You and your people have got that part down, congrats!

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
