Yesterday was Jack's 13 month ampuversary. A few days ago, on Cemil's ampuversary, I made a comment about how there was this weird moment where I heard Jack breath and it was like this sudden calm came over me and I actually felt like he wasn't sick anymore. It was the first time in 13 months that I didn't associate every little thing he did with him having cancer. Well, ever since then, that feeling has stayed! It's so weird not having this cancer thing constantly in the back of my head…but I never thought that I would get to the point where life felt so normal that I would forget his ampuversary!!! So, a day late (and many dollars short), Happy 13 months, little buddy!!
<3 Mommy
p.s. for those of you enjoying the 2010 tripawds calendar, don't you think the Mr. Julys are totally handsome?!?!?!?!?!?
OH Gosh...what a testimony to actually FORGET the cancer to the point you forget how long you've come....CONGRATS and lots of icecream all around....we would celebrate here too, but I'm afraid ice cream would just come right out the other end...so Jack you get to have Whiskey's portion too!!
That IS very cool, indeed, to actually forget an ampuversary!!! But glad you remembered - even if it is a day late (and many dollars short!)
That is FANTASTIC Jack!!
Tracy, Maggie's Mom
Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
Happy hoppy 13 month ampuversary Jack!!! What a super reason to celebrate.
Here's to many many more forgotten ampuversary dates Keep up the great work at kicking cancer's butt!!
Laura and Tai
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.

And congrats to you too Laura, for living in the Now. Keep it up! It is indeed a wonderful feeling when you realize that you haven't worried about his health, or the future, or let the "what if's" take over for a long time. Life is good indeed.
Jack, you rock!

Happy 13 Month Ampuversary Capt Jack! I can totally get into what your mom said about not having to worry or think about that cancer anymore. Ahhhh what a great feeling that must be. And such a relief too when you forget your ampuversary. You know you've come a long way when that happens! Here's to many, many more ampuversaries and celebrations and forgotten ampuversary dates .
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Congratulations to Captain Jack. Wow, 13 months - past that statistic mark. Definitely cause for celebration!
And Congratulations to Laura, I know how wonderful it feels to finally find that 'peace'. It took me 14 - 15 months, I think partially because even if you believe as I do that statistics are only numbers, a part of you can't help but wait to see if you make it past that point.
Hope you two had the best day ever.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
That is great news, both the 13th month Ampuversary and your not feeling like he has cancer. Keep up the good work!
Chuck & Rusty
Rusty is a Labradoodle who was diagnosed with level 3 Fibrosarcoma on January 16th, 2010 and had his left hind leg amputated on January 25th, 2010 five days before his 18 month birthday. Please see Rusty's blog @rusty.tripawds.com. He is putting up one heck of a fight against this terrible disease.
He must have been mad that I forgot because he stole a loaf of bread off the counter, ripped open the bag, and ate. the. whole. thing. I walked into the kitchen to find a shredded plastic bag and crumbs. Considering that Gracie is 7 pounds on a good day, this left only one culprit......
Captain Jack, We salute you !!! 13 months is so pawsome!!! Congratulations!!!
