Today is Abby's 13 month ampuversary. This month went by really fast. The bummer is that our sweet beach girl hasn't been to the beach for the past 10 days. As you may remember, I posted last week that we were worried about her having some lameness in her remaining front leg. When we went to the onc, she seemed so much better that we ended up not doing an xray and he said to just keep an eye on her as it seemed like an overuse injury. Well, that day and the next we went for our onc.-approved 10 min walks and she seemed ok. But then Thanksgiving morning (of course these things always happen on holidays/weekends) she was quite lame again in the a.m.
Her onc is not back in San Diego until tomorrrow, so we are going tomorrow at 12:30 for the xray. I just talked to him on the phone and he said to try not to worry too much as it still just could be a nagging injury, but we'll know for sure tomorrow.
In the "pro" category, she still has a good appetite, gets up and goes outside to do her biz on her own, tries to play with me now and then, and follows me into the kitchen after dinner at night to "help" with the clean up. On the "con" side, she has yelped a couple of times getting up/down, she can't sit up very well, and both hubby and I think her leg looks weird - definitely a bit swollen.
So, while you are giving your pup (or yourself) a treat today in honor of Ab's 13 month ampuversary, please also have a good thought for her appointment tomorrow. I'll update y'all tomorrow afternoon.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Okay ScAbby,
I wasn't going to say it, but now I going to say it and I'm not going to say it very loud...
I will let you give me a little kiss, (NOT A BIG SMOOCH or ANYTHING, just a little peck on the cheek!) if it will make you feel better. I'm not going to kiss you back and I'm not going to enjoy it but I really want you to get better so I can pick on you some more!
There. Done. Are you better yet?

P.S. And mommy did get me a Flying Dutchman burger a few weeks ago, thanks to you! So, I hope I get another one to celebrate your 13 months! Mommy seems to get excited over these celebrations.......so....paws crossed for me!
Happy 13 months Abby! We are chanting: "overuse injury" over and over here in IL for you. Please take it easy on yourself and your pawrents!
