Hi friends,

Dee is not doing so well.  He is struggling to walk - and we dont know if it is the arthritis and cold weather causing the pain or if the cancer has spread.  Spoke to the vet today and she prescribed pain meds - if we dont see any change in his behaviour after the weekend, he must go in for tests...

He is still eating and doing his thing outside, but lies down most of the time and cries when he has to get up again... It is really sad for me to see him this way and hopefully the pain meds will help for now.  I have also bought him a new warm blanket and we put some nice warm beanbags around him.  The doctor also advised that we should start with a few joint exercises to keep his joints flexible - this will help when he has to get up again.

My baby is so brave....  He just keeps on giving us love and joy even though he is not feeling so well...

Lots of love and licks

Fingers and paws crossed that the pain meds help out and no further testing is needed.  Arthritis for a tripawd has to be almost inevitable with the odd gate they have on three legs.

Hi Ansunette,

It sounds like you are doing everything a loving mom could do to help reduce Dee's pain and keep him as comfortable as he could be.  The pain meds definitely helped Jake to feel more comfortable for a while which I was truly grateful for.  It makes us feel so helpless to see our furbabies in pain and not acting like themselves.  However, the meds do what they are suppose to do.  In fact, Jake acted like a puppy when he was first on the Prednisone!  I hope Dee is feeling better and more like himself real soon!  Smile

Ansunette, we are holding Dee and you close in our hearts. This is such a hard time to experience. Look deeply into Dee's eyes, have a good long talk with him. Together, you'll both know when the time is right.

Please let us know what the vet says. Many many hugs stretching across the oceans.

It's done, it's over... I am soooo sad...  Dee was put to sleep this morning at 09:20.  He couldnt get up anymore, walking was too painful for him.....He was sooo scared when he saw the vet. My heart is broken, my furry baby is gone and I miss him so much.  I know his spirit will be with me, around me forever, but its just so damn hard to go through this...  I looked into his eyes and I told him to say hi to Jerry, Lalla, Winston, Max, the whole gang...  I also told him that it is ok if he waits for my dad at the Rainbow bridge - and not for me, we will be together one day....

I will write a decent post after my exams are over.  I need to focus now and finish my finals, so that I can spend enough time on Dee's story.

Thank you for all your support and love.

Oh Ansunette, we are so sorry ... I replied to your email directly with your new password, but received an out-of office auto reply. Sad I know, not what you need right now.

Dee was and always will be a true hero here in the forums. By sharing his story, you are certain to help others going down the same bumpy road. Peace.

We are so sorry for your loss...  it's so hard to lose our fur friends.

But just think how much fun he's having, and oh what a great group to hang out with, on the other side of the bridge!
