Well, Winston had his surgery on tuesday and was up the next morning.  In less then 48 hours he was ready to come home.  Fortunately he is very light in the rear, so he has been able to get around on the grass with no sling.  Eating has been a little difficult as has drinking.  I have been able to get him to eat a little, but he is having a hard time going to the bathroom due to the close proximaty to the colon and bladder.  Every little bit of fluids will help flush his bladder and he needs it.  He has some blood in his urine from the catheter.  His nose is cold and wet, he is wagging his tail and he is eating and drinking, so i am thankful for that!  The bruising isn't to bad, but as I have read and now witnessed, I swear it looks worse today then yesterday.  I just keep telling him, and I guess myself, that tomorrow will be a better day then today.  I did increase some of his pain meds which seemed to wear off a little early.  The vet has me walking him every 2-4 hours, so I did it every 2 hours today which didn't amount to much.  He went out three times and just stared at me as to say "why the hec am I up?"  Oh well, like I said tomorrow is a new day, and it will be better!

Yeah Winston, you're on the road to recovery. Take it one day at a time- and you'll do just fine.  Our friend Zeus used to tell us hour by hour if we needed to. Everyday gets a little better - and at the end of the " 2 week" recovery period I am sure you will be amazed at how great things are.

We'll be sending good thoughts your way.
