I just registered here as I have a new tripawd tervuren Vicky who was diagnosed osteosarcoma in her left front leg. In CT scan wasn't any visible metastases, so the leg was amputated two weeks ago. The first sight at the vet after operation was devastated for me (like for every owner I think) but it was definitely better choice than another end result... I adopted Vicky 4 years ago from a Spanish killing shelter when she was very young and she was in a very poor condition and she had Leishmania. Vicky is very kind and good girl but like all belgians, she is speedy and temperamental. After operation she stood up immediately after waking up and went out to pee. Next week she had some back problems so she got gabapentini for calming the nerves/reduce pain and I started to massage her back, and slowly she has become better and better. Yesterday she got the first chemotherapy (my avatar is taken there) and today she suprised me totally, as I let her walk without the leash in the garden; She was like before, speedy, agile and playful and my heart was filled with joy and I hope I can rescue her another time! <3
Some pics about VIcky before and after operation are HERE
The running video clip taken today in the garden is HERE

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

P.S. I'd never heard of leishmania and had to look it up. It's awful! Poor girl, she's so lucky to find you! Who is her playmate? Looks like you have a real love of the breed. They are gorgeous.
