I just recieved a call from Tasha's vet. Surgery didn't go very good. He said when he opened up her knee it was so full of blood and blood clots. He could not identify the cause of the bleed and can't get it to stop. He put a tourniquet on the leg and the blood stopped but he couldn't find the source of the bleed. When he took the touriquet off blood just came from everywhere. He is sending out a biopsy which we should have the results of late next week. He still talks of it possibly being another tumor, he said sometimes they will bleed like this but yet still doesn't feel that is what we are dealing with. He said that he has never seen anything like this and is very puzzled about it. He cleaned out her leg and she has a compression bandage on again. I am to call tomorrow to see if she is able to come home then.
I feel I am loosing her. I know if it's another tumor how could she be mobile on 2 legs and if they can't stop the bleed she can't go on like that. I am so terribly scared for my girl. We wait and pray that next week when the results of the biopsy come back we can fix all this.
I am rambling and having a hard time seeing the keyboard, I am just so scared for Tasha. Life without my girl in it just seems impossible.

JoAnn, we are so sorry, this isn't supposed to happen, darnit. She is such a fighter! We know she can get through this! In fact don't you think it's a good sign that she pulled through surgery?
We don't blame you for being scared, we would be lying if we said we weren't either. So remember that we're here with you, sending all the pawsitive energy we've got (and it's a LOT!). Hope that she can come home soon, it will do both of you so much good.
Keep us posted OK? Many many many hugs coming your way....

If you don't own a dog, at least one, there is not necessarily anything wrong with you, but there may be something wrong with your life.

Oh Jo Ann!
I'm no help because all I can do is cry with you while writing also.
But's lets not think about the worst that could happen let's think about all of the positives right now! It could be anything. Maybe your vet will call some other vets and they have the answer.
We are here for you.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Jo Ann, know I am with you. I feel your fear, my own memories are so fresh. Your words ran through my head so many times.
Sending you strength to face this, courage to continue to fight, and healing thoughts for Tasha. It is so very hard not to give in to the fear, but remember, it isn't time to panic until you know what you are dealing with.
((hugs)) to you and Tasha

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

I'm so sorry to hear things aren't going well, Lisa is right, not knowing is the hardest part. But don't think you'll lose Tasha if she only has two legs; someone sent me a video of a two-legged dog and he was doing great. I posted it: http://tripawds.....it-bull/ I hope you find encouragement in this. And I hope Tasha can come home tomorrow. You'll both feel so much better when you're together again.
