Hello Tripawds friends! Its been quite a while since we have updated on Pollyanna's progress. It has been almost two years since her amputation due to a nerve sheath tumor in her left shoulder. She is an older lady now, but still going strong & happy! She is 14 and we have had some issues with diet and blood pressure and arthritis, but she is as happy and healthy as you could ever ask of a teenage shepherd! We have been seeing a holistic vet for acupuncture and sage advice regarding quality of life, in addition to an internal medicine specialist. Polly will still plop herself right down in the middle of a toddler's birthday party, even when given a more peaceful option! We just want to let others out there who are struggling with the tough decision we made two years ago, that there ARE happy endings and we could not be more grateful or proud of our girl! 🙂
Thank you for checking back in and announcing Pollyanna's milestone.
I am always grateful for the veterans who share their experiences and triumphs here. I found such profound help in these forums and blogs everytime I needed it.
Best wishes and celebrate in style!

It is just awesome Polly is 14 AND celebrating 22 months. That is quite a milestone. My Trouble is 12 and starting to have some arthritis issues, but she just keeps on going - sometimes slower, but she doesn't give up.
Wishing you a great celebration and many more months ahead.

How wonderful to read about one of our heroes doing so well after 22 months! That's just fantastic and you must be so proud of your girl! Way to go Pollyanna!!
Kami, Angel Mackenzie and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Wow - that's impressive. Hope we'll make it to a 22 month ampuversary! We made it to 2 months so far and she's going strong so keeping fingers and toes and dewclaws crossed! Thanks for sharing your inspirational news!
Jackie, Abby's mom.
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
