Some of you may recall our post about Celeste back in August (http://tripawds.....he-family/). I wanted to update you that we had a wonderful six months with Lesty post-amp but the cancer eventually did return and we decided to let her go a couple of weeks back. We have absolutely no regrets about our decisions (amp with no chemo) and those months were very precious.
Although we didn't post much here after the early weeks, I want you to know that the Tripawds community and resources were invaluable to us in the early days - we had so many questions answered and we felt a lot less alone knowing that there were so many others in similar situations that we could share with.
I also want to give tremendous credit to Dr. Eric Herman and the team at NIVES (http://www.nives24h.com/) who were just perfect in their treatment of Lesty (and us!), I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone in the NE Indiana region.
Lastly, we are offering Lesty's harness and DogLegg in the Angel Exchange forum to anyone who may be able to use them.
In Peace,
Colin
Colin and family, please accept our condolences, we are so very sorry to hear of Lesty's passing. I know your hearts must be aching right now. Your courage at going forward with amputation at Lesty's age will never be forgotten, her story will always remain as a beacon to light the way for future parents of senior dogs faced with this very difficult decision. I'm so happy to hear that things went really well after surgery.
Your generosity at donating her mobility aids to others in need is so kind, thank you for that.
Please know you are in our hearts. We are sending you lots of love and listening for Lesty's hoppy barking and chatter as she goes to run free with all of the Tripawd heroes who have also earned their wings.
Lesty, you sweet girl, you will be missed.

Ohh, so sorry to hear this. I remember sweeg Lesty so very well.
And gosh...she made it to about fourteen and a half? And had the amputatin at fourteen? What a special, courageous, well loved girl she is! Our true Senior Trioawd Hero! She belongs in The Tipawd Hall of Fame for Seniors!
I'm sooo glad all of you gor the most precious extended quality time. It took a lot of courage to go forward with the gift of amputation. And it took a lot of courage to give her the gift of helpng her cross over to the other side of this life when she needed to go.
And you know what? In "dog years" that six months of loving and spoiling was equal to three years! I know she felt priviledged to have you as her human partners. That kind of longeity gives you a lifetime of treasured memories to draw n as your heart heals.
When you can, we would love to hear more avout Sweet Celeste, and more pictures too. You can just look i to her eyes in the photo and just tell she was such a gentle soul. Gentle, but a strong determined girl too!
That's very kind ofnyou tomoffer someof her things to helpmothers on the journey. It's a beautiful way to continueher legacy.
PLEASE now that Lesty became part ofor family with the very first post. Her life mattered to us and she wil NEVER be forgotten here.
She is a stellar example of "size and age" not being a challengez,
Lesty's light will always surround you with her grace and warm your heart with her loving and eternal presence.
With love to all your pack,
Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I have often thought about you since we are in the same city. I'm so sorry for your loss but am happy you were able to have 6 more months with your precious girl.
