Hello! I’m so glad I found this site.
Totter is our 2+ year old tri-kitty. He used to be a stray cat that I fed twice a day (for a few months prior to October 2021). He was sweet and let me pet him and even pick him up. One morning he was limping on his front right leg, and by that evening the leg and shoulder were quite swollen.
I had been planning on taking him to be neutered, so I got him in a carrier and took him to the vet to check the leg at do the neuter. In the subsequent days it was clear the leg was infected, though the vet treated a pretty bad puncture wound in his paw and he was on antibiotics.
within a week the emergency vet tested for the specific bacteria and it was antibiotic resistant. He was young and healthy prior to the injury, so we went ahead with an amputation. The alternative was euthanasia.
a year and a half later Totter is doing great and our happy house tri-kitty.
He’s white with orange tabby tail and ears. If I can figure out how to post an image later, I will.
I’m concerned mostly about developing arthritis as he ages due to the changes in how he moves now with 3 legs, but other than that he has adjusted well.
Aww Totter won the kitty lotto! Thank you for adopting and loving him! He is so lucky to be in your care now.
Welcome and thank you for joining us! We can't wait to see him. This is how adding images works. Basically they need to be hosted somewhere other than the forums and then you can copy/paste the image here. Let me know if you'd like help!
