I haven't posted in quite awhile, but I did want to log on and say- today is a year since Sophie's surgery, a year and five days since her diagnosis. There have been a few hard points- mostly her developing pretty bad osteoarthritis in her remaining front leg (came on suddenly and progressed quickly), so it was sad to see her going from springing around to more haltering. But she's got a great pain specialist and still appears to be loving life! Given that her leg may go out before the rest of her does, I have been putting my resources into that care instead of continued x-rays, and I do wonder if the cancer may be coming back, as she seems to become winded very easily these days. We're mainly focusing on quality of life, and she really does seem happy and to be enjoying herself. She has a little "brother" now, and this morning I recorded them playing- will post if I can figure out how to download it off my phone!
This site was so incredibly invaluable for me, and therefore for my ability to be a good mom to Sophie, particularly in those early dark days. I will be eternally grateful for that support. I am also so incredibly grateful for this extra time we've had together, and however much more we might have. Thank you to Jerry's folks and everyone else who has supported us over the past year. And the best to all of you and your pups!!
Congratulations on reaching one year with Sophie. I can relate to what you are saying about the osteoarthritis in her remaining leg because Emily developed hip dysplasia in her remaining hind leg. It also came on quickly and progressed quickly. I am reassured to hear that with good pain management that she continues to have a good quality life. We have just started prednisone and am hoping Emily will be walking again soon.
Anyway, congratulations again. Celebrate!!!

Congratulations on Sophie's one year ampuversary!!! It gives me great hope for my Jake who is just 19 days post his front leg amputation... I hope that a year from now, I can also post about his ampuversary!!!

What wonderful news!! It makes me so happy to hear one of our Tripawd pups is beating the odds!! How grateful you must be, love her each day and live life. Don't worry about what her x-ray might show....it would not change the way you love her and care for her.
Take care,
Gineej & Paris
Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!
Honoring her life by opening our hearts & home to Addy!
Sophie and Mom,
The cheers you are hearing from the west coast is the celebration upon your reaching such a great milestone. I cannot believe that I missed the posting last night, so the toasts have had to wait until today. We will be celebrating with you vicariously but there is no less excitement here. Reaching such a milestone is not only great for you, but also for all those starting down this journey. We are six weeks away from reaching this milestone ourselves and can attest that it truly was and continues to be inpawrational every time we see an ampuversary no matter what the length.
Wishing you many more ampuversaries and nothing but the best,
Bob & Cherry

It is good for us relative newbies to hear from a successful pup like yourself. Congratulations and we hope you have another great year! You should really be celebrating right now!
I know many of us wonder about the remaining leg that bears so much weight. Any tips from your experience? Do you think anything in particular contributed to the problems with Sophie's remaining leg or just life as a 3-legged? How old or big is Sophie?
