It has been a VERY tough first week after surgery.... Lots of laundry lots of sleepless nights with him in pain and agitated and restless.
But seeing him in his spot in his yard today with the warm sun on him and a smile on his face. Made every tear over the last month trying to come up with a decision and every bit of tiredness this last week worth it. =)
And thank all you Tripawd families and your kiddos for giving us the knowledge and help and courage to do this for him.
Sooo happy! Glad to see that sparkle start to come back.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Isn't it the ABSOLUTE BEST when the sparkle comes back!?! I remember the first day we sat outside to get some vitamin D.... it made it ALL worth it!
YAY!!!! Enjoy
Hugs,

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Oh my gosh, that's such a happy picture! Brings back wonderful memories of our first milestones with Lily. That moment when you realize all is well is sheer joy! I also clearly remember the many tears leading up to it....Lily's struggles to heal....the sleepless nights on the floor with her...my guilt and self-doubt. ALL washed away that moment when your new tripawd returns to being their old self!
Have a wonderful weekend!!!
-Kerry, with the spirit of sweet Lily
Lily the Great Dane (she was actually a lot more than just "Great") joined our family as an ornery puppy on December 20, 2005 and changed our lives forever. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in early May of 2014 and her right rear leg was amputated on May 8, 2014. She sailed through 5 rounds of Carboplatin and 15 weeks of Pallladia. She hopped on 3 legs like she was born to it and continued to fight cancer with grace, valor and an abundant sense of humor...and always a *giant* smile on her face. Lily had two small nodules on her lungs but was brought short by a brain tumor in late December, 2014. Lily earned her wings on December 28, 2014 and we miss her terribly every day. http://lilyt.tripawds.com

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
What a beautiful photo capturing the "here & now" enjoyment of life at it's simplest!
It certainly is those small moments that make you sit up & know 100% that it's going to be ok!
Live in these moments together...Be More Dog as everyone kept telling me...it is definitely the way to go
So pleased you are beginning to see these special times to share....I keep a little note each time a special thing happens & place them in a pot then when we're having a tough day we sit & read them together to bring those smiles back to think WOW we have been busy impressing one another through this journey so today it is ok to be lazy! It helps me so if sharing this beautiful idea helps you too...all the better
Focus on the good days & take small steps through the not so good days.
Keep smiling you handsome pooch - you have EVERY reason to!!
Oh my, if there was ever a photo that personified "Be More Dog ," this is the one.
Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.
