Hi everyone-
I have not been able to spend much time in the forums lately and I'm going to make a point to set aside time each day to do just that. This is such an amazing resource for those pawrents who are needing to make decisions regarding their little ones. I know that I've learned something from everyone's stories I've read and I hope that mine help others as well.
I am feeling extremely fortunate today. We are celebrating Smokey's two year ampuversary!!! I am so excited that we reached this milestone I can't even explain it. This last week has been one of those kinds where when I look at Smokey, I don't think it's possible to love him anymore than I do at that moment. He is such a trooper. I've learned so much from his resilience and determination to adapt to the biggest change in his life.
Today we headed west and spent the day at the Oregon Coast. We started towards the north in Cannon Beach and Seaside and ended up as far south as Florence before we turned around and then headed back home. It was a long great day. Smokey and I were able to just relax and listen to the ocean and appreciate every minute.
I've had a lot of friends within these last two weeks lose their animals, whether they were dogs or cats. A total of 5 in the last two weeks. Time is so precious and it's so important not to waste a single second of it.
As excited I am that we've reached this milestone, my thoughts are not lost on those dogs who have passed on. They are always in our thoughts.
Thank you again to everyone's support over these last two years! I know I've been absent quite a bit from the forums lately but I'm going to work on changing that.
Wishing everyone the best!
Tori and Smokey
Oh wow, you guys, two years is just so awesome! You are truly one of our leaders and give us all that ray of hope that is so desperately needed when fighting this disease. I'm going to have to go back and read your original posts, we've been here a really long time, but not as long as you, so I missed Smokey's story!
Wishing you and Smokey many more memorable days ahead, and many more happy ampuversaries!

Love Never Ends
WOWWWW!!!!!! Congratulations you two! This is AMAZING and such great news!!!
Please don't feel bad about not being here; you are spending time together, being there for your friends (we are so very sorry about their losses) and loving life. That's what counts! We are just thrilled that you guys have come so far.
For those who weren't around back then, here are a few of Smokey's early posts. Looking back, it's hard to believe that any of us wonder things like . . .
I don't know if I have it in me to take my boy's leg… I did talk to another owner this week had done it with her 10 yr old black lab and she doesn't regret it for a second. But how do you know if you're making the right decision? I'm leaning towards amputation – Smokey is a fighter for sure and besides the foot, is completely healthy. I know that I need to find a way to cope because it will take awhile to get used to and recovery will be a bear, but how do you make a decision like this? Does anyone have any advice or success stories?
Now, Tori, you and Smokey ARE that success story! Two years is just amazing and we are honored to be a part of your journey. Continue the celebration each and every day, and now....ICE CREAM for EVERYPAWDY!!!

Happy 2 Year Ampuversary!! That is so pawesome and so wonderful! Smokey is a true inspiration. Your avatar is so great - reminds me so much of the kisses I get from my dogs. Here's to many many more ampuversaries and celebrations. We look forward to hearing more about Smokey (minus the Robinson) and the miracles !
Kami (Mackenzie & Kobe's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Oh what a great great milestone....congratulations and hopes for many many more.....stories like yours are such inspiration and give such hope to anyone just starting on the journey. And among losses recently, it is so uplifting to have some successes to lift up our hearts.

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Thank you everyone! I know I'm very fortunate that we have made it to this point and we celebrate every day. There's nothing better anymore than when I wake up and we get ready to head outside for our morning hop - when slipping his harness on him he just stands there wagging his tail nonstop and that's just about the best thing ever :).
We have learned so much from everyone on this forum - it is by far the most important resource I have ever come across and it is so invaluable to those of us that go through situations like these. I am forever grateful to everyone who has shared their stories and have helped me get to where I am today.
Jerry - we think of you often and imagine you wagging your tail at us from above - you continue to be our true inspiration and we are so thankful that your pawrents started this resource.
WOW! 2 years! Happy TWO YEAR Ampuversary! I went back to your posts to see what type of cancer...malignant melanoma on his foot? I don't know much about that one...does amputation alone cure that issue?
Great news for Smokey and you!
Tracy, Maggie's Mom
Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
