Hi new here, this place is great.Blue went in for his amputation this morning, I am sitting on pins and needles. I know he will be able to walk ok ...he hasen't walked on that leg in at least a week. He had chest x-rays about a week and 1/2 ago and his lungs were clear. They are gonna x-ray again today, plesase keep all paws crosssed for him. Thanks Lorrie
Hi Lorrie - we are sending lots of prayers, pawsitive thoughts and crossing of fingers and paws your way...I'm glad you found us here - this is an amazing place full of love, support, advice when you want it, encouragement and just plain good ears to listen and shoulders to cry on. You don't have to walk through this alone...

Well I just spoke to the vets office and Blue came through the surgery just fine, he's still a little groggy. I'm going over there in a little bit, hope I can take him home. don't know about the chest x-rays yet but I don't think he would have done the surgery if they looked bad. Thanks for all the good thoughts. Will keep you posted
Lorrie
Lorrie,
So glad that Blue came through the surgery ok. He should probably spend the night (or a couple days) at the vet's to make sure all systems are A-OK before coming home. My Calamity was on IV pain medications overnight after her amputation as many others on here. You don't want to over do it too quickly. The next couple of weeks will be trying enough!

Good Morning All
Well Blue is doing so good. I woke up about 1:30 this morning and look down NO BLUE I jumped out of bed ran through the house ...to find him on his bed in the kitchen :0).Anyway this morning he got up and went to the door so we let him out and he went down the deck stairs and hopped around the back yard and went potty.:0) .But we didn't let him try to come up the stairs, we walked him around. Sounds like Blue is off to a speedy recovery. Trouble, too had a very easy time adjusting, although she was a few days getting around without a little assistance. They are so amazingly resilient.

Gosh Blue - you came home very quickly and got back into the routine, didn't you! Don't over do it though! You've got to rest and take it easy for a short while! We're very glad to hear that you are doing so well though
