Solo looks like such a sweetheart. Its been a little over a month for us since Cadence had her rear left leg removed due to cancer. We made sure she took it easy for the first two weeks after the surgery. Not sure how active Solo usually is but our dog wanted to go ..go...go, when she got home. We had to make sure she took it easy. You may also want to get a raised dog feeder. Its easier for them to eat and drink. We had gotten her a new bed before she was diagnosed. Its a firmer bed and it was easier for her to get up and out of it. I noticed when she slept in one of her other softer beds, she had a harder time standing up.
If you have hardwood or slippery floors you might want to consider booties for her. They are a little wobbly on their feet so if there is some traction its easier for them to walk. Just remember to take one day at a time. There were days when I said to myself, "What the hell did I do to my dog". But I can tell you, with each passing day, things do get better, and before you know it, things fall into place. Cadence does not even realize she is missing the leg. She still goes on walks, plays with us and is always making us laugh.
Let us know how the recovery is doing. Sending out positive thoughts and strength.
“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.” ― Milan Kundera
Hi Solo and Family,
I'm sorry you lost your leg. How come you had to have it removed? You look like a very cute pup...what kind of dawg are you? Are you a big dawg?
Welcome to Tripawds. I know your people are going to be soooo hoppy to bring you home!

Hi and welcome to you and Solo. Sorry you had to find us here. What type of cancer does he have?
He looks super sweet. We're here if you have questions during his recovery!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
