Hello all! I just wanted to send a quick note to share our joy. Shadow, our (now) 4+ year old Corgi tripawd is celebrating 2 years post-amputation...AND...he is still cancer-free!! He just had his latest round of tests and scans and the vets were thrilled, as are we! Shadow was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma in his front right leg when he was barely 2 years old, and he was given a very poor prognosis. We went ahead with amputation and 6 rounds of chemo...and here we are 2 years later with a very happy (and hoppy), healthy boy! We relied tremendously on this forum when we were going through diagnosis and treatment, and so wanted to share the latest. Every story is different, but having these last 2 years with Shadow has been a blessing, and we are so glad we pursued all the treatments we did. Thank you for all of your support! OVER THE MOON HAPPY!!!! To get this kind of good news is such an inspawration for anyone facing that horrible disease! SHADOW is proof statistics don't mean much around here!👍
The "Corgi sploot" is sooooo darn cute. Of course, everything about Shadow is so darn cute!
Shadow will always be our go-to-dog whenever anyone doubts that miracles can't happen around here! Thank you for being that miracle Shadow!👏
Hugs to Shadow, along with some celebratory ice cream and cake!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thank you both! For treatment, after his amputation, Shadow had 6 rounds of Doxorubicin (3 weeks apart). He did really well with that once we figured out the right nausea meds after his first round. The only other thing he started taking is turkey tail mushroom capsules daily. It’s got science behind it that it helps with his type of cancer….and while we don’t know if it is helping with how well he is doing or not, he continues taking it daily just in case! He takes I’m-Unity brand…I used to be able to get it on Amazon, but they don’t seem to sell there anymore so I just buy direct from their website.
Thanks again for the well wishes! We feel very grateful to have him!
It's we who are thanking YOU for sharing all this great news. I'm serious. When someone tells me their dog has hemangiosarcoma I cry. But I won't anymore because Shadow proves that it is not always the worst thing ever.
I forgot about the Doxo, thank you. Between that and the turkey tail I'd say it's a good combo. That brand is excellent, and it's always safer to get supplements direct from the manufacturer so good job mom!
Now give him extra belly scratches from us 🙂
