Well, Sage was my first dog, and then 2 months after I adopted her, I adopted Sydney (she's in the 4th picture), who was an 11 week old beagle mix, from the same rescue. She's just turned 11 in May.
Then in 2006, my aunt decided she no longer wanted their 15 month old golden retriever, Taz, so after a few weekend sleepovers, she joined my pack also. She turned 9 on August 25th.
Then, in April of 2010, I agreed to foster Buddy, who is a 25 lb mix of something. He lived the first 2 years of his life tied to his dog house on a 3 foot rope and he eventually broke the rope and ran to the neighbors house, but they just pretended they hadn't seen him and turned him over to our rescue. He's all muscle, looks like a miniature pit bull but with a pointy nose. He has separation anxiety, and after 2 months I finally got him settled enough so that he was okay with staying home alone, and I couldn't bear to think of him being adopted and going and destroying someone elses house, so I adopted him.
And then in April 2012, I started fostering Chance, a 2 year old chihuahua, who is not very nice, and bit people at adoption events and I decided he was probably a liability to most people, as he would eventually bite the wrong person and end up being sent back, or worse. So I adopted him also. He loves three people in his tiny world, me, my husband, and our housesitter, and we're just fine with that
And then 10 cats, Captain, Kahlua, Bert, Sushi, Henry, Olivia, Oliver, Tai, Little Kitty, and Oscar. All fosters or strays that stayed or never got adopted. I will admit, I will never again have 10 cats, (I'm thinking 3 is a good number), but I love them all anyway.
Love your Sage...spunk and attitude! Reminds me a bit of my Lexie.
Good for you for rescuing so many dogs and cats.
Which rescue group do you work with btw?
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
I'm so envious of your pack! What a lucky bunch of cats and doggies to have you for a human.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
