Aimee,
thanks for sharing this beautiful tribute to a wonderful companion. They are always with us in our hearts, even after many years have gone by.
I lost a cocker spaniel girl (Carolina) in much the same manner - she was very healthy at age 10, almost 11, although after a uterus removal when she was almost 9 she was taking some heart medication and Puran T-4. It was much of a shock, on a Sunday morning, right after my husband and I had taken her out to do her toilet business. She came back inside, I went to the kitchen to brew some coffee and minutes later ound her lying on the rug under the dinner table. This was 1998 !!! More than 20 years have gone by, we have had four other dogs, and Carolina is still present in our family memories.
What is most important is to be at peace knowing we loved our fur babies to our fullest and gave them the best possible care to help them through their health issues. Rox was deeply loved, and knew it.
take care,
Daniela & Johnnie
Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.
I know it may not seem like it right now but the way Rox passed is a blessing. She was right there with you playing and being loved and kissed and hugged. For those of us who have to make that dreaded trip to the vet's office to have a furkid put to sleep because they can no longer go on...that weighs heavy on our hearts. The grief part of this journey sucks!! You take as much time as you need to heal and we'll all be here for you when you're able to come back.
And the ornament is just beautiful. Such a lovely way to remember your sweet girl.
Hugs
