Hello,

Roxie had her front leg amputation 16 days ago. She went to the vet today for a review, and had her stitches removed. She is doing well. She has lost 11 pounds, which is good, since she was overweight. She walked into the vet, down a hallway and back all by herself. She is off all meds, eats dog food rather than chicken only, and we see a bit more of her old self.  Though she will go get water by herself she still wants her waitress to hand deliver her food which she eats lying down. After agonizing about the decision to amputate we can finally say we made the right decision for her. She is cancer free,as far as we know, right now. We are hoping that her osteosarcoma does not spread and that she will be with us for a long time. Thanks again for being a great support to us through this . If there is ever a meet and greet in the Houston area please let me know.

Awww paw shucks thank YOU! This is the best news all day and we are THRILLED that you are all finding your new normal.

How did she lose the weight? Share your experience in Eating Healthy, we'd love to know more!

I think in time she will be more eager to go get food and water on her own. Slowly encouraging her to do it helps. You are doing really well managing all her needs and showing the world that life can be good after amputation. Keep us posted on things, we are always here to help and hopefully we can meet up some day!
