This is my precious Polly, not long after I got her in 2004. Still one of my favorite pics of her!
Polly and my sweet late Maggie not long before I lost her in 2011.
A few weeks before her cancer diagnosis in December 2012.
This was Polly's first surgery in March 2013.
New little sister Pearl, that we were already on the waiting list for from my Lab breeder, when Polly was diagnosed. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise......they bonded almost immediately, and truly helped Polly heal much faster.
My birthday girl, turning 9 years old on July 25, 2013, and also celebrating her last chemo a few days later....she lost about 60% of her fur through all the chemo.
After her chemo was finished, her cancer came back worse than the first time, we had a second surgery done the first week of September 2013, but our surgeon could not remove all the cancer.
October 3, 2013, my sweet girl became a Tripawd....this was her first day home after surgery. Our first night was a little uncomfortable, but I was sleeping right next to her on an air mattress for about 2 weeks. She actually bounced back very quickly from her amp surgery.
Just about a month post-amp, and Polly just received her Tripawds bandana that day! She is also finally getting her fur back from chemo and looking very beautiful.
What a pretty, pretty Polly. And what a trouper for all she has been through. Pearl looks like an angel and I'm very sorry you lost Maggie. All the joys and sadness of owning dogs and cats but it sure is worth it. Good luck with sweet Polly.

You have both been through a lot battling this horrible disease but the light in Polly's eyes in all of the pictures really demonstrates how the decisions you made for Polly were ALL in her best interest.
Congrats on 3.5 months and Tuck and I look forward to many more posts and pics.
Linda
Thanks for sharing Polly's picture story. She is a well loved dog and a tough one too!
Luanne and Spirit Shooter
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
This is the perfect place to share Polly's pawesome story! I love love love the photos and THANK YOU for getting a Tripawds bandanna
I'm curious what kind of chemo she had that made so much fur fall out? We usually don't see that here, it's pretty rare.

Thanks to all, so much for your kind words of support......Jerry, Polly had so many bad reactions to her chemo, which was Doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide it was a nightmare. We did 6 treatments of each but had to spread them out because of all the vomiting, diarrhea and dehydration to the point of her almost going unconscious at the beginning. They hit her so hard, and so fast, we ended up at the animal E.R. a couple times till we could get it managed with a ton of other counter-acting drugs. She had all her vets, including her oncologist completely baffled because of her extreme side-effects. We finally got through all of it but it was very challenging and stressful. After it was all said and done, looking back and looking into the future, we will most likely never put her through chemo again. It did not seem to even work for her type of cancer, so it is not worth putting her through it ever again. Oh, and Polly loves her bandana......she wears it proudly everywhere we go!
Sally, thanks again for your happy words of support, and I do agree with your belief that all my spirit Labs that have gone over Rainbow Bridge, have certainly had a "paw" in the choosing of my new Lab fur-babies!! There is a story for everyone of my new Lab puppies as I got them over the years....!!
Oh my gosh I'm so sorry the side effects were so bad! Wow, that must have been awful for all of you. I'm so glad she pulled through. What a trouper!
Thanks for sharing her story, and again for the bandanna! Pink is a great color on her
