We are doing our best to digest all the info that has been thrown at us since Bobbo (our Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog) was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma Thursday with metastatic cancer already visible in his lungs. Everyone was on board to amputate the painful leg on Friday. Surgery went well at SAGE vet with Dr. Sellmeyer in Dublin, California and we have an appointment set up with the oncologist department at UC Davis on Tuesday at 11am. The outlook from the vets and surgeons is 2-4 months but we want to stay positive and fight...FIGHT!! We found Dr. Dressler and have read The Dog Cancer Survival Guide to get his diet on the holistic path and start acupuncture. I think the most important thing for us right now is to hear success stories just to keep us breathing each day. Bobbo is our baby and he means the world to us and it's been a shot to the gut, especially since he's only three. We want to extend the quality of life however we can. We've had friends that are still alive today by changing diets and lifestyles after grim diagnosis so we are going to give Bobbo every chance.

Welcome to Tripawds, your future posts will not require moderation.
I just read your blog post, Bobbo is so young, unfortunately we have had some youngsters here.

My little pug Maggie had mast cell cancer, she was also a rear amp. She had lymph node involvement and had a prognosis of 6 to 9 months. She lived almost 4 years and did not pass from mast cell cancer. There are lots of stories here of pups (and a few kitties) who have beat the odds. Sounds to me like you guys are on the right track- choose your treatment path, stay positive, and treasure each day together. Around here we call that being more dog!

BTW, my quad pug Obie had knee surgery at Sage in Dublin last February. I was very pleased with his treatment. Also, I live in Livermore so if you are in the Bay Area for vet appointments and need to kill some time let me know. One of my Tripawd pals also lives in Livermore. Cemil is a 150 lb, front amp Anatolian Shephard. He lost his leg to osteosarcoma more than 4 years ago.

Welcome Bobbo, and I'm sorry you are going through this. You have come to the right place. Everyone here has been a tremendous help to my girl Roxy and me (diagnosed with Osteo in March, amputation April 2nd, and then discovered Fibrosarcoma in her mouth about a month later)... She is still with me but at this point it looks like the Fibro is the one that is taking over and affecting her quality of life the most.

Think of this place as a place where you can say, vent, question anything, without judgement, and get great advice, comfort and support.

Wishing you the best for your little Bobbo. There is life after a cancer diagnosis and you have the right attitude. Love every moment with him.

Mica and Roxy

My girl, Angel, who will be ten in a few days, had her surgery last month for the same reason as Bobbo. I have found so  much comfort in being able to ask questions and get quick answers here on Tripawds. I love when members remind us there is no expiration date on our Tripawds and tell us their success stories. You are on the right track in everything you are doing for Bobbo.

FIRST......a HUGE round of applause for a very strong amd determkned pawparent!! You are a WONDERFUL advocate for your precious Bobbo! Excellent!

It wasn't too long ago that mst surgeons didn't amp. if it had spread to lungs.....in fact, many still don't. The reason they DO now is, NUMBER ONE......you will definitely get quality time with your Bobb AND he will be pain free!! NUMBER TWO......with all the advances in chemo, metronomics , nutrition, supplements, these dogs are making their own rules as they go!!

Others will chime in, but many dogs with lung mets, whether before amp. or after amp. have lived a year, or two and maybe even longer. Some WITHOUT mets have lived a very short time, as, of course s e with. Just trying to say it is a crap shoot all the way around!

Bobbo doesn't care about any stupid ole' statistic! Jerry always says statistically speakng, nne out of ten staristics are wrong!! And the tripawds on this skte prove that every day! Bobbo doesn't come with a time frame stamped on his head!

Do your research, check out all options i cluding metronomics ,. But for right now, you jave your paws full with getting Bobbo through recovery. Major surgery and adjusting to three legs all at once, balancing pain meds, ot getting much sleep.....yeah,...for now just focus on one thing at a tme!

The mantra that you will near from all of us is LIVE IN THE OW......LIVE IN THE PRESENT.....LIVE IN TNE MOMENT.....that's exactly how Bobbo is living and there is o greater mentor for you right now! Do NOT let ANYTHING rob you of your time together NOW! We all spend time at first so focused on "time", we forget about the prese t. When you turn that switch off in your head.....boy oh boy.....enjoying the loving and spoiling takes over, you see how happy Bobbo is....and THAT is all that matters!

You stay glued to us! We are your new extended family who understands like o others can. A source of support and incredible knowledge and carng. Happy Hannah and I joined here back in February and this site insta tly became my lifeline and I haven't let go!!! Hapy Hannah must celebrated her six month ampuversary and is continuing on to sooooooo many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, etc. MORE!!clap We are living everyday as the sacred treasure it is! She ks love and spoiled and just stays blissfully nappy all the tme. She is my example of living in the moment!

Oh! P.ease take lots of pictires! We love pictures arou d nere!!

You are ot alo e! We are by your side!

Now, go hug that sweet Bobbo for us.....yo'll both feel better! No, really, go hug him now! Ohyeah.....that was a great hug!! Good job!clap

Surrou ding you with healing energy, strength and bunhes of hugs!

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

We have a nine year old mixed boy, Snoop diagnosed with osteosarcoma on right front he had surgery May 28th. He's doing great, just coming up to 5 th chemo this Thursday. There are many here who have defied the diagnose given to them. Good luck with his recoup, keep us posted. Also jump on chat there's usually a lot of great people there to talk to.

Bobbo and family, welcome. I LOVE your spirit and your attitude, it will carry you far in your Tripawd journey!

We've seen quite a few dogs here who had mets and beat the odds, so it is entirely possible that Bobbo will join them. I sure hope so. Plus, you couldn't be in a better place for care. Between SAGE and Davis you are in one of the best spots in the country for forward-thinking cancer treatments. I had my amp at Davis, they are so wonderful there!

I hope that when Bobbo is all recovered you will join the Tripawds NorCal crew at their annual meet up in Mill Valley. Watch the Tripawd Parties Discussion Forum topic for an announcement, I believe it will be in early October.

Please let us know how we can help you OK? And keep us posted, we want to know how things are going.
